What size speakers in a mazda 6?

I have a 2004 mazda 6, hatchback (5 door) v6
I'm trying to buy some speakers for it but dont kno what size they are. Someone please help.

If you have the base audio system and not the Bose, you should be able to use 6x8" speakers. The factory speaker is a 5x7", but a larger 6x8" will work without any modification and they are easier to find.

so i have a 2009 mazda 6i touring.

the stock sound system in it is already pretty nice. i always get compliments on them.
the bass slaps, but not TOO hard and doesn't sound crappy like other cars.

however, my back 4 or 5 "speakers" are empty..or fake as i should say
(because the v6 version comes with bose system) so i guess it was mazda's way of making you buy the v6.

i never noticed that those speakers weren't there until someone told me "they weren't working" cuz i don't sit in the back.
it looks like i have speakers there, but if you open my trunk and look underneath...it's just Styrofoam underneath those four or five (i forgot how many) "so called" speakers. haha.

regardless though, my stock throughout the car still sounds nice.

so my question is. can i just put some subs in my car to make the bass a little stronger?
i'm not too worried about the missing speakers right now because money is an issue.
i'm taking one step at a time.

here's a breakdown of my question:
- can i just put subs in my trunk for now to make it slap harder?
- if so, what kind? (detail) and will i need an amp? (detail)

- let's say i do have the money, what kind of system should i get? please give me a break down of everything. and around how much it would cost.

i'm a girl. i do know a thing a two about cars (i love cars) but when it comes to wiring and stuff i'm just too lazy to do research. lol. with that said...since i'm a girl...i don't want a very masculine system. i want CLASSY WITH A UMPH. <---idk if that's a word hahah!! thanks again.
forgot to say my budget...but i guess under 400?? since its just for the subs and amp...


and to clarify: i DON'T have the bose system.
that's for the v6. i just have regular mazda stock system.

The links bellow would make a good upgrade to the bose system. You don't want to over power your factory system with large subs an monster amps. This is a simple system is about $550 to $600 with shipping an handling depending on your location. You can also use a different ported box a an run the port up into one of the factory dummy speaker holes. This would be a custom box an most likely cost more. The Memphis line of audio is a very close match to the bose . Also they been in the business going 40yrs.They also have a good warranty.Now for the Pac adapter you will need this to hook up the new amp without damaging your factory radio. This is a must have .
