How do I get my 2.1, one jack computer speaker system to work with my sound card?

I actually ended up getting a much higher end onboard sound card with my new system than I expected and now my subwoofer will not wotk with the system. I have two front speakers and a subwoofer that all go through one jack but my new sound card has 6 plugs for things specifically such as front speakers, rear speakers, center/subwoofers etc.. The only way I currently get sound is to plug jack into the "front speaker slot BUT I really do not get any sound out of the subwoofer now. is it possible to get a splitter and plug something into the "rear/subwoofer spot or is my sound card too advaced for a 2.1 system?

Lol! I would check the connections of your speaker system, it should just work fine. I suspect incorrect connections. You did plug your subwoofer to your speakers right?


Or try hooking your speakers and sub up to a stereo system to make sure your speakers aren't defective. If they work then you know it's just a matter of how you have them hooked up.
