How do I play music on 2 separate stereo systems simultaneously?

best speaker system for parties image

SuzyQ

I have one stereo/speaker system in my family room (Yamaha AV receiver RX-V661) and the other stereo/speaker system (Sony FM Stereo/FM-AM Receiver STR-D665) is upstairs in my bonus room. There are no wires between these two systems. I also want 2 sets of wireless speakers for my deck and sun room. When I have a party, I want all of them to play the same songs from my PC media server. Is this possible?

Answer
Great question Suzy- I'm trying to figure out the same.
But I'm finding that it's simplest to do it all wireless. So Split the media server OUT signal to wirelessly xmit to both stereos..âthe wireless party speakers system already came with wireless signal thrower from the PC right. ? so your server OUT signal must split to 4 .
⺠2 stereos and the 2 wireless. good luck-

What kind of speakers do you use with an iPod?

BG

If you want to use an iPod for party music in a large meeting room, what kind of speaker system would you use? I mean, lower budget.

Answer
The two best speaker systems are the Bose Sounddock and the iPod Hi-Fi. I have the Bose and I love it, although the Hi-Fi is better for parties, it has a better equilizer and bass... They are pricy though... The best for the cheaper speakers are the Altec Lansing speakers... They usually go for around $100-$120...

I'm doing a project called "Community service" at my school. I and my partner try to find the way to play music during the last minute of our school break. We know that we can apply music to the speaker system, which works like a telephone. So I hope you guys who know anything about how the speaker system at school work and tell me. Plus, if you know more about technology can you give me some advise so I can know how to apply the music into the speaker automatically?
Thank you.

Answer
Are you sure that this is not a prank?

Anyway, the only practical way to do this is to connect your music player (ipod, cd player or whatever) to the PA system mixer. It will probably be in the main office somewhere. If you actually have permission to do this, the school's maintenance person can help you.

Last week the area I live in was hit with massive amounts of lighting three days in a row. After one of these storms I went to play my ipod on the speaker system I have and found it would not work. It would turn it on and then immediately it would come up saying error. Does anyone know if there is some way to try to reset it? Any other suggestions on ways to try to fix it would be great. It is the Sony personal audio docking system RDP-XF100iP. Thanks!

Answer

What Panasonic home theater system will you recommend?

I am searching for a Panasonic home theater system for my living room that is good. It has to be a Panasonic home theater system as I have heard so many good things about them.

My budget is approximately 500£ for this Panasonic home theater system.

I want the Panasonic home theater system to be a 5.1 as a minimum as I believe that you have to have at least 5 speakers to have a good surround sound.

So what Panasonic home theater system will you recommend and why?

Answer
Hello Maria, for your requirement I will definitely recommend the Panasonic SC-BT230.
This Panasonic home theater system you will without doubt love.

It has a really nice design, that looks great with every tv. It has fantastic sound, simply fantastic. It can be connected to almost everything. And it has an Ipod connector.

It is very easy to setup and everything about it is so cool.

I have put up a link below where you can check it and see what you feel about it. Plus you can read all the great reviews it has gotten. good luck

what is a good budget receiver and speakers?

thirdbasem

Im looking for basically a speaker system that has a receiver to handle the sound coming from a PS3, TV, iPod, and another bluetooth attachment for my computer. Is there a system that has a receiver without the dvd player, since i already have a PS3. im looking to spend around 300 or 350 dollars

Answer
Onkyo is one of the best in the price range. While their are others out there. If you look no further than Onkyo, its performance and features are best in class. The Onkyo TX 8255 comes in at $170.00.
Dayton's B652 Speakers are $25-32 for a pair. Read the rave reviews. This is an outstanding speaker, packed with rare quality and high performance it makes you wonder how they can do it so well and the price be so reasonable.
The suggested Onkyo produces 50 watts per channel the Dayton speakers require 40 to 75 watts of power. This is a near perfect match between receiver and speakers for a sound quality that will exceed your expectations for just over $200.00. The B652s have a strong speaker cabinet and batting relaying to the listener far beyond best in class specs for sensitivity, frequency response and ferro fluid cooled tweeters found in speakers costing hundreds more. What does this mean in laymen's terms? The combination of the Onkyo's quality source of clean power along with its ability to exercise/push the speakers even at low volumes, squeezing the best musical notes out of every port, woofer and tweeter will provide a fixed grin on your face. This will mean to you a sonic clarity that will leave you shaking your head in agreement to whoever the artist, whatever the song. You will know it sounds right.

Believe me, you would love this first set up and so will your wallet.

Best to you.

How to build a desktop computer for under $500?

best home speaker system under 500 image

OiOiOiOi

I have an older desktop that is beginning to become very slow (it's from 2003), as well as pretty obsolete. It is a Dell Dimension 4550 with a CRT monitor. Does anyone have any advice/directions on how I could either upgrade all or most of the components of this computer, or how to build an entirely different system for under $500?

If any more details are needed about my current desktop, just let me know :o) Thanks!

Answer
upgrading a computer from 2003 makes no sense. the parts are simply too old for reusing them in a new build, not even hard drives and optical drives because they have an IDE interface. the latest motherboards don't have them anymore.

however, here's a $500 build for a computer built on the new Sandy Bridge platform

cpu: Intel Pentium G840 Sandy Bridge 2.8GHz LGA1155 ($89)
motherboard: Foxconn H61MX LGA 1155 Intel H61 ($55)
ram: G.SKILL NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 ($27)
graphics card: EVGA 01G-P3-1450-RX GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB, recertified ($90)
hard drive: Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB 7200 RPM ($40)
optical drive: LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 ($20)
power supply: XIGMATEK NRP-PC 400W 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active ($35)
case: COOLER MASTER Elite 430 Mid Tower ($50)
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM ($95)
total: $500.87 ex.shipping, all parts from Newegg.com

assumption is you use your old monitor, speakers, keyboard & mouse

I don't need anything like a real cinema/theater experience.
I'm gonna put it in medium sized house room. I have the

HTIB are not reliable nor are they upgradeable. Just get this http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-S3400-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B004O0TRDI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310180830&sr=8-1 and add a blu ray player and you are still under 500

The thing is I already have a 2.1 Altec Lansing speaker system so if I buy another system that means I have another system's volume I have to adjust which gets kind of annoying. So what should I do, I cant return the system I already have and I dont wanna sell it or give it away. How do I integrate my current system with a new system.

Answer
I can't think of any simple way of doing it to make that system surround sound. I would just get a 5.1 system from logitech. If you're really serious about surround sound. Think about adding a creative sound card and buying a av receiver.

My computer speakers are emitting a "popping" sound after a few seconds of turning them on?

Crispin D

I have a 4.1 Altec Lansing speaker system, that whenever I use emit an annoying "popping" noise thats the same volume even if my music is lower or higher than the sound. It comes out of all the speakers except the subwoofer, since the noise is a fairly mid range pitch.

Answer
The speakers are emitting that noise because there is a power surge when they are turned on.

1) Check the sound cable connection at the back of your computer

2) Ensure that your speaker system is plugged in to a surge protector (NOT an uninterruptable power supply) which, in turn, is plugged into a grounded outlet

Chances are, it's nothing to worry about - but electronics are expensive, so make sure you're taking proper care of them.

What is the best speaker system for a party (college atmosphere)?

best speaker system under 100 image

sportss15b

Looking for a speaker system to put in our party room in our house. Need something that is loud and sounds good but without going crazy on the price. Anyone got any ideas on what to look for?

Answer
One of the best "party speakers" out there is the Cerwin-Vega ("AT" or "D" Series or newest "VE" Series) loudspeaker system in either a 12" three-way or the huge 15" three-way models. They don't need a lot of power to get very loud, and they put out chest pounding bass too! You can find these all over the web, and there are usually quite a few on eBay -new and used.

Another good choice is either the DCM KX-12 or KX-212 model.

The above choices can handle the largest rooms. However, if you want to stay away from large, heavy speakers, and you don't have a large room (e.g. under 400 sq. ft.), then a very reasonably priced floor speaker from MTX Audio is a good choice: the Monitor 600i.

Bottom line, as a rule of thumb when you're looking for "party speakers", look for specs that offer a high sensitivity (usually 90dB or higher), good, deep bass (30Hz or lower), and can handle at least 100 watts. Other than that, find the pair that looks the best to you. If you purchase locally, I recommend auditioning them first to see if the sound is good to you or not.

Keep in mind, however, "party speakers" are usually not designed for critical listening (a term often used by audiophiles), but rather designed for being loud, and likewise, "high-end" or "audiophile" speakers or not ideal for use as a party speaker usually because they require pinpoint positioning and typically have a lower sensitivity.

Any one know of a good home speaker system?

Honda

I need a home theater system thats under $250. It needs 1 or more HDMI hook ups 5.1 suround sound and eather in black or a silver finish.

Answer
That is a tall order to make...look for these brands/models elsewhere and you may get it under your budget.

In the specs it has 1 HDMI input and 1 HDMI output (it is $5 over your budget right now)

what is a good yet inexpensive sound system 2.1 or 3.1?

Anonymous

I am getting a Samsung 32" class LED-LCD HDTV for Christmas this year. I have read reviews that say the sound isn't all that great so I was wondering if there is a pretty good yet inexpensive speaker system. Obviously it would have to be able to hook up to the tv and maybe an up-converting DVD player (I don't watch too many movies so we aren't gonna get another blu-ray player). I only want a 2.1 or 3.1 system because I don't want it expensive. I'm actually using computer speakers right now, but they don't have a remote so I have to get up whenever I want to change the volume. Call me lazy, but it gets annoying!

Anyone have a recommendation of a good 2.1 system or soundbar in the sub-$100 range that has a remote?

Answer
nothing comes in the sub 100 dollar range unless it's used. don't skimp on the audio, it's half the info, video is the other half, spend as much as you did on the TV. you said call you lazy, I'm calling you cheap. a stereo receiver is a min of 100, two decent speakers is another 100, and add signal cable and speaker wire plus tax and you're around 300. but you'll have that sound equipment longer than your next two cars, ... it just lasts a long time. you mentioned 2.1 and the .1 usually means a subwoofer, once you add one of those you're getting into much more expensive things, a cheap sub costs 100 dollars and the receiver I mentioned for 100 doesn't support a separate subwoofer...

I would suggest you to take Logitech Z-2300 speakers because they are best for listening music and you will get these speakers for around $90. Logitech Z-2300 is the best 2.1 computer speaker system (two 40-watt satellites plus a⦠120-watt subwoofer). Is it better to over or under amp speakers?

best speaker system under 1500

best speaker system under 1500 image

Mc Blub

I have all ways been taughtto have speaker with a higher power rating than the amp could output, so that there is no way you could blow the speakers. What do other people take some 1500 watt speakers (peak) 750 RMS at 8 ohms what power amp would be ssuitablefor that. Would you over or under amp the speakers.

Thanks

Answer
In the professional audio world (DJ's & concert sound) the rule of thumb is that the amp should be able to deliver AT LEAST the rated power of the speakers. More is better if the system is run with care.

The key is to make sure you do not push your system so loud that the amp goes into clipping. Amp clipping damages speakers. A lower powered amp will reach the clipping point sooner for a given volume level. If you want your speakers to last, watch your amp clip lights - they should light up rarely.

To answer your question...overamping is better but it should be done with knowledge and experience.

Cost of installing 2 twelve inch Kicker comps?

bobmutton

This includes whatever this would take. I have a stock speaker system now with none of the required equipment. What exactly would I need? Deck? Amp? Etc.

Also, for listening to rap with heavy bass, which would produce better sound two twelves or one 15?

Answer
The cost to get it professionally installed is very much a rip off. I managed to install my Dual motorized head unit (XDMR-7710), my two 15" Pyle 1500 watt peak (PLBW154) Blue Wave Subs, my pyle 400 watt rear 6 x 9's, and my Lanzar V-series 3000 watt 2 channel amplifier in a matter of 2 and a half hours.

What you need:
You need to know the wattage of your subs, two 12 inches pushing say 1000 watts compared to 1 15" pushing 500 watts what do you think is better?

You must know the impedence of the subs, whether they are single or dual voice coil, and then you must decide on your amplifier. I needed a 3000 watt amplifier, so that meant I needed 0 guage power wire, and ground wire.

You MUST have a fuesholder (mine is a 250A amp) on your powercable, no more than 18 inches from the battery. I'd recommend purchasing an amplifier kit that shows it's recommended wattage handling. Always use the proper guage wire.

You then must make an enclosure for each sub or a dual enclosure. I made a dual enclosure that is ported. The dimensions were 36"length 13" height and about 17 inch width. They say to get all crazy and figure what exact dimensions will make the best sound but this won't impress your friends anymore, as they don't have oscillators to recognize the minimal difference in db.

You can get a cheap enclosure for your subs already made from any audio store if you'd like.

You will definitely want an upgraded head unit. You don't want to hear music for a second then ONLY bass, then low music when the bass stops. You want loudness as well. At least personally I can't stand if I can't clearly hear the words as well as window flexing bass.

Run the power wire from the battery either down through the firewall, by looking for the area the other electrical wires come through and using a screwdriver to open it enough for the power wire, OR what I did was actually say screw that. I took it right down and under the car, along the side underneath then up through the bottom of the trunk. Removed my spare tire to drill a hole for the power wire to come through, then put the tire back in securing the power wire as well.

I used 3 clamps and bolts to secure it tightly to the bottom of my car chassis. This now allows me to follow this same route if I decide on future additions, and doesn't clutter up my car interior.

If you refuse to get a new head unit, you will have to hack a little bit. But basically you want a head unit with preamp outputs (RCA out jacks). You will plug the RCA cables in there, then push them down through behind the head unit to the floor, and easiest thing then is to run it along the side of your car floor, unscrewing the screws to lift the runner to place it under and run it back unseen. This must be plugged into the ampflifiers audio in red and white jacks.

You will also need a long 12 - 16 guage wire called your REM (remote) wire. Look at your head unit diagram, this is why it's best to get an aftermarket head unit, and locate the remote wire, connect these two then run the remote the same way as you did the RCA wires. This will be fasted to the amps REM input. Probably next to the Power or Ground fastens. Your ground will be very easy. This just needs to be grounded to any metal surface. So bes tthing to do is pull some carpet back in the trunk, sand the paint off an area big enough to secure the wire to. If your car is on or the key switched to ACC when the ground is touches a reliable surface the light on the amp will turn from red to green.

Your best bet is to find a lug end, basically it connects to the end of the wire, and you can then drill a bolt through it, to secure it down. Or else you might be able to get away with duct tape for a while :).

The manuals you get with each piece of equipment will explain in detail how to install. All together it costed me 140 for both subs, 80 for my enclosure, 150 for my amp, 70 for my head unit, and about 50 dollars in things like clamps screws, a jig-saw to cut out the impressions for the subs, electrical tape, stereo wire, 25 bucks for my amplifier installation kit, 15 bucks for my antenna adapter, a piece you will need specific to your car make and year.

It's very self explanatory though, just hooking grounds and positives :).

I know you need the speakers, but what else do i need to create a wireless speaker system for a patio that gets music from an iPod or the radio. (Ex: Receiver, Remote, Amplifier, etc.)

Answer
Aside from an enclosure, the speaker(s) and a cross over you will need some form of amplification to get the signal from the receiver. Once you have sorted out the wireless component (ie. the sending and receiving) try to find either a powered speaker or source a small audio amplification kit (not too hard to build) from E-bay.
Keep in mind, you will need to provide some form of power to this unit.

Good luck

What is a good speaker system for a HDTV plasma?

arkiemom

I bought my husband a 42"plasma flat screen for Christmas. We are thinking about adding a wireless speaker system to enhance the sound. It is in an average size living room - so we don't want to be "blasted" by sound - just good sound for movies etc. We also don't want to spend more than $250. Any recommendations?

Answer
Nothing sounds better then a Bose. You are not likely to get "great" sound for $250. I could be wrong through. However Bose does offer a small home theater system that will give you great sound with out be "blasted" by it. It is $499 however Bose offers a interest free payment plan. They take out a monthly charge to your credit card automatically with out charging you interest for 12 mos making it more affordable! I provided a link below if you want to check it out. I have also included a link to reviews of the best home theaters it also talks about less expensive models this may also help you out.

Q. I'm looking for a 2 pc. speaker system that has it's own power and I can just plug into my TV.

around the >$100 price range

Answer
For that price you might as well get a nice 5.1 system. I can recommend the Logitech X-530 system.

Is there any better speakers with a sub-woofer then the Logitech Speaker System Z623?

Q. I'm wondering if there are any better speakers then the Logitech Speaker System Z623, I'm thinking around the price range of 500 or around there. I use them for PC speakers so more then 2 speakers would not be necessary.

Answer
Yes. There are better speaker system out there than the one you are looking at. Klipsch is one that I can name off at the top of my head now.

Is it bad to put my computer on top of a subwoofer?

Q. I've got the Logitech Z-5500 speaker system, and have a smaller-sized computer on top of the sub. Is this bad? Will it cause any sort of long-term deterioration in my computer's components? I don't have huge vibrating bass playing a lot, but sometimes watching movies I'll turn it up and it will shake things pretty good.
The sub's in a pretty thick wooden box, and my HD is probably about 10" away from the actual magnet, but I think it would probably be a good idea to get it off... So I'll put the system on a cardboard box. Would that work??

Answer
I wouldnt if I were you. Find out if its magnetically shielded. If it isn't, removing your computer from on top of it would be a very good idea. If it is, there shouldn't be too much harm in it as long as its not vibrating that much. Long term I wouldn't leave it like this though.

How much would it cost for a good sound system in a car?

Penish

I don't know much about speakers, and sound systems, but a friend of mine has amazing bass in his car. It booms so loud, your whole body vibrates. Total, how much would it cost for everything needed to do this to my car?

Answer
Depends on what you wanna do and how much your willing to spend

Imma give you a basic answer because it would take days

Wiring amp and box most important for bass system

I really love bass and my internal mac speakers give very little bass so i want some decent speakers.
I dont want you to mention the most expensive ones, id rather you gave like the 3 best value ones please.
Thanks so much in advance.

Answer
I would recommend the Audioengine 2. They're powered speakers so do not need an amp, they're small but sound BIG, and they're available in white for Mac people...

I've had a pair for a year or so for use in my office when I'm working from home, and I still get surprised at how good they sound for the size and cost ($200)

What would be a good speaker for my bedroom?

Camden H

I want a good speaker that can provide strong power for my bedroom. I was hoping something that has really good subs so I can vibrate the heck out of room. I'm looking for something $200 or under. My room is about 12 sq ft. I'm not really sure where to start looking or what to get. I'm perfectly okay if it's overpowered for a 12 sq ft room, in fact, I'm kind of looking for something overpowered. I'm okay if it's overkill. In summary, I need a sound system that provides (hopefully) an excellent sub/bass, that's under $200, that I can hook up my iPod to when I want to listen to some good music. Any help with this?

Answer
- Your budget is to low to get a decent low end system. If you get a decent low end receiver and speakers it's going to cost around $400+. (You might want to check craigslist, you might find both for around $50, use at your own risk).
- I would like to put out that music is dynamically compressed (depends who edited it) and then amplified (basic edit, just make sure it's not pass clipping) = It's going to be loud = I would be more concerned about the audio quality of your system and the audio quality of the file.

- Some examples of good low end surround sound speaker brands that I recommend are: Polk Audio, Energy, Monoprice, Klipsch, JBL, M&K.ect
- Example of good low end surround sound speakers = Polk Audio Blackstone TL Series TL1600 or TL1900 or TL2600 or TL350; Energy Take Classic or Energy RC Micro; MonoPrice 9774; Klipsch HD Theater series 300 or 500 or 600 or 1000; M&K Movie; JBL SCS 145.2 or JBL CS480.
- Good low end surround sound speakers will cost somewhere around $300-$900 (crappy low end speakers will cost less than $200 and that's when it's not on sale) and mid end surround sound speakers will cost somewhere around $1,000 and high end surround sound speakers will cost more than $1,000.
- Note: Klipsch sued Monoprice for copy infringement. Monoprice's 9774 5.1 speakers (they don't have it anymore) copied Klipsch's Energy Take Classic 5.1 speakers. (Monoprice 9774 would have cost about $248-$278 and Energy Take Classic for $399). (I saw the Energy Take Classic 5.1 speakers on sale at crutchfield for $200, but they are not on sale anymore atm).

- Some good high end receiver brands that I recommend are: Onkyo, Pioneer, Denon, and Yamaha.
- Good low end receivers will cost around $300-$900 (crappy receivers or stereo receivers might cost less than $200 and that's when it's not on sale) and high end receivers will cost more than $1,000.
= I recommend a new low end 7.1/7.2 system, but you have to find one on sale yourself tho. (If your on a budget then just get a low end 5.1/5.2 receiver, a high end 5.1/5.2 receiver is not worth the extra money and you would be better off getting a low end 7.1/7.2 receiver, high end 7.1/7.2 or 9.1/9.2 or 11.1/11.2 .ect receiver is only ok if your rich or if it's on a massive sale).

Some examples of good 5.1 or 5.2 channel audio/video receivers. (Overall=low end).
- Low end = Onkyo TX-SR313 or HT-RC430; Pioneer VSX-523-K; Yamaha RX-V375; Denon AVR-1312 or AVR-1513 or AVR-E200 or AVR-E300.
- High end = Onkyo TX-NR414; Pioneer VSX-823-K; Yamaha RX-V475; Denon AVR-1613 or Denon AVR-1713.

Some examples good 7.1 or 7.2 channel audio/video receivers. (Overall=high end).
- Low end = Onkyo HT-RC460 or TX-NR525 or TX-NR626 or TX-NR727; Pioneer VSX-1023-K or VSX-1123-K or VSX-43/73; Denon AVR-1913 or AVR-E400 or AVR-2113CI; Yamaha RX-V575 or RX-V675 or RX-V775WA.
- High end = Onkyo TX-NR818 or TX-NR1010 or TX-NR3010 or TX-NR5010; Pionerr Elite series SC-61 to 68; Denon AVR-2313CI or AVR-3313CI or AVR-4520CI.
