To all Filipinos, What is your onpinion on our educational system in our country?

robby_eval

Also include your opinion about the pre-school system. Please give realistic answers.

Answer
The Philippines has embraced some benefits from Spain. They help Filipinos learn through cathecisms but unfortunately only in a limited extent. Though this fact seems to be forgottenly taught at school

The education that we have today is patterned after the America. Prior to education, during the time of our Grand Grand Parents, the system is obviouly very good. It has produced fluent english and Filipino speakers. Because it is compulsory, it is impressive to know that commoner during this time are speaking English fluently. They have even adapted the American twang.

But as the time goes by, the system has dramatically declined. Due to low budget from the government, it is obvious that public schools don't have enough books, chairs, classrooms and even teachers.

There a number of genius Filipinos, but unfortunately, they lack support from various sectors. Reinforcement should be done.

My professor told me that the best way to get Quality education in the Philippines is through private school.

The Philippine Government should also try to enforce it full force in closing those colleges with 0% passing rate for all courses.

The government should also invest funding on the food and nutrition of the students. Even if the government is offering scholarship grants, a number of less fortunate can't still afford it because of unhealthy lifestyle that would primarily result to disturb mind due to a disturbing stomach.

What is the best speaker system for the iPod nano?

Izzpuppy

I'd like one that charges my nano, but also has awesome sound.
I don't want like surround sound for iPod that takes a lot of time to assemble. Just a plain speaker that plays my music and has a remote will do.
I don't want one that doubles as a CD player/alarm clock/etc...I just want one that docks my nano, plays it, charges it, has a remote, and has awesome sound.

My sister just got a Bose SoundDock Tuesday and it is cool. I've listened to it a couple of times, but the remote won't allow you to go back to menu so I guess that is a factor too, ability to go back to menu from the remote. I heard the Apple Hi-Fi is good too, but to me the Bose looks a lot better. I may be missing the best one out there just because it isn't a big named one (Bose, Apple, etc.). I'm ready to pay the big price if I get sound and everything I listed for it. I want it worth my while.
I've done a little research with other people who have asked the same question, but still haven't come to a decision.

Answer
According to Dan Frakes of Playlist:

"Weâve tested the nano with a good number of iPod speaker systems, and in our testing, speakers that get their audio from the dock connectorâsuch as Boseâs SoundDock, Logitechâs mm50, JBLâs On Stage, Altec Lansingâs inMotion models, Klipschâs iFi, and even iHome Audioâs iH5 clock radioâwork with the iPod nano just as they do with other dockable iPods; audio is passed to the speakers as expected. In addition, on those systems with a wireless remote control, the remote also controls the nanoâs playback, just as it does with mini and full-size iPods.

There are, however, two caveats here: The first is that since the nanoâs dock port is off-center, the nano sits off-center when connected to these speaker systems (or when sitting in any dock-cradle accessory, for that matter). The second is that most of these speaker systems do not currently include a âdock cradle insertâ specifically for the iPod nano, although we expect many vendors to provide such adapters soon. (See âThe mysterious Dock Adapter,â below, for more on dock cradles for the nano.) That being said, because the iPod nano is so lightâit weighs only 1.5 ouncesâthe dock connector itself should be strong enough to hold the player upright, at least until speaker vendors provide an âofficialâ cradle insert.

The iPod nano in Boseâs SoundDock

Of course, any speaker system that connects via a standard headphone jack is also fully compatible with the iPod nano; JBLâs On Tour is an especially nice portable match. (As a side note, if the nanoâs bottom-mounted headphone jack were centered, PodGearâs Shuffle Station would have been a better match for the iPod nano than for the shuffleâthe shuffle currently has to be connected upside-down. Alas, the nanoâs jack is far enough off to the side that the nano doesnât fit between the Shuffle Stationâs speakers.)"

what is a good speaker system for 3rd generation ipod nano that is remote controlled?

dmdmd

Can't find any reviews of Pyle Home PDPC8T In-Ceiling Enclosed Speaker System with Transformer. Anyone use this? Thoughts?

Answer
Those are fine "commercial grade" ceiling speakers. They probably will sound great. I would get them myself - the price is good too.

Speaker Systems?

MistyCreek

What is the best home sterio system that i can afford?
My price range is 0 to 300 bucks.
i know of some great brands but.... I dont know where to get them?

Answer
Well, at that price, you're most likely looking at the stuff that Walmart or Best Buy will be carrying.

Listening tests at the store are useless since they won't have the speakers set up properly, and "LOUD" doesn't give you an accurate test for quality.

I'd check around the various review sites - maybe go to the library and check out their issue on cheap speaker systems.

Nice Sound Bar vs Home Theater System?

ww51

One is a theater system for $220 and one is a Sound bar with a big subwoofer for $189. Which will sound better and have better bass? I play PS3 games and watch a lot of blu rays and music concerts. CNET has the sound bar at the TOP 5 home audio items EVER. They didn't even review the other system.

What are the major differences, I want awesome sound! Both have the same connections. Both are almost the same price so I wanna make a good decision. PLEASE HELP! Thanks!

Answer
It depends. You need to post the model # of each or the specs. Not sure what you mean by theater system. Is it a receiver with speakers? If so, then I would go with that because you will have the ability to connect more components in the future. Soundbars usually only have 1 input. But like I stated earlier it's hard to choose without any info

Logitech z3113 vs Creative inspire t3130?

Sidharth

I am stuck between these 2 speakers. Both have same price range.Total RMS rating is 25w for two of them. But frequency range for creative is 40 hz-20,000 hz and logitech got 48 hz-20,000 hz. Does this mean that creative makes more bass?
I am a bass lover.please tell me which speaker give me more clean bass with less distortion.
please answer only if you have really heard sound from them.
I dont have a sound card so I dont need large big powered speakrs.I already shortlisted to these 2 little sytems. Please tell me which one will give more good bass among them.

Answer
- Note: Every low end or mid end computer speaker system is garbage (other than the example below).
- Example: Your better off getting a low-high end audioengine brand or a high end system from brands such as creative, JBL, Klipsch, Logitech .ect (I don't recommend any computer surround sound system, if your looking for surround sound you need the better options listen below).
- Note: You cannot go by the speaker specifications alone. You need to go to a store and demo (listen) to each of them.
- Example: I was at the store a little while back and the cheap JBL (had no subwoofer, but the speakers still produced some bass) system sounded better than the cheap creative system when listening to a country song and another song. Creative sounded good for techno like songs. This is a example of what you need to do before buying any type of audio system (even tho I don't recommend a lot of low end crap and sometimes the reviews are sometimes a waste of time to look at).

- Active speakers have built in amplifiers in the speakers (and/or built in amplifier in the subwoofer and the speakers plug into the subwoofer). Examples of active speakers would be computer speakers or sound bars.
- Most active speaker systems have very little power and low end quality and no additional features other than producing audio. = Garbage (I don't recommend computer speakers or sound bar speakers).

- Blu-ray or DVD home theaters in a box is a disc player (amplifier) that comes with and hooks up to compatible passive speakers with speaker wire.
- All HTIB systems have very little power and very low end quality and not much additional features other than producing audio. = Garbage (I don't recommend HTIB systems).

- What I do recommend are receivers (amplifiers) that hook up to compatible passive speakers with speaker wire, computers or blu-ray/dvd player or game consoles hook up to the receiver with a hdmi cable for audio then receiver hooks up to the tv with a hdmi cable for video. You can find good cheap speaker wire and hdmi cables at monoprice or amazon or newegg or tigerdirect.
- If you notice below, brands that make good receivers do not make good speakers. = I don't recommend a system that bundles a receiver with speakers, but the Onkyo HT-(S3500 or S5500 or S6500 or S7500 .ect) system is not too bad. Your better off buying the receiver separate from the speakers (for surround sound try to match the speakers).

Some examples of good 5.1 surround sound audio speakers.

Anyone know of an affordable home theater system with wireless rear speakers?

andrewfier

Long story short, I'm looking for a surround sound system with wireless rear speakers because I lease an apartment and don't want to drill holes to hide the wiring from the front to the back of the room.

I know of some systems that have wireless rear speakers, but the cheapest one I've seen was a BOSE system for $1,499 which is a bit much for an apartment. I don't need it to be that powerful. I've got other tenants to contend with.

Any suggestions would be great.

Answer
Most home theater systems that offer "wireless" rear speakers will still have some wires to the rear speakers. Basically they have a transmitter on the main receiver unit and a smaller receiver box that the rear speakers are wired to.
Panasonic's current set of home theater sets have the wireless rear speakers packaged with the theater systems. you can find those sets starting at around $300.

Can anyone recommend wireless speakers for a 6.1 surround sound home system?

peekaboo

Answer
It doesn't seem that 6.1 has yet fully entered the wireless world in terms of buying a complete ready-to-go system - any 6.1 systems out there currently have only wireless on the fronts, and the rears are wired.
The Panasonic SC-HT545 system is 5.1 but is easily setup with SH-FX60 to have wireless rear speakers too, see source 1.
The Philips Cineos HTS9800W is a 6.1 wireless rear system but front speakers are wired, see source 2, 3 and 4.

Speaker System and Amplifier Questions?

Onkyo SKS-HT870 SKS-HT870 Home Theater Speaker System

Onkyo HT-RC260 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver

Is this speaker and receiver combination worth spending $620 on?
That's what I'd like to know. It received mostly positive reviews on amazon and New Egg, but I'm still not convinced.

Answer
The Onkyo HT- RC260 is a very good receiver, in fact I'm thinking of getting that one for my own system... you can get better speakers though than those Onkyo systems for less money take a look at the Fluance AV-HTB or the Jamo S 406 both sell for $199 and offer more sound....if your looking for a good receiver to keep the cost low, take a look at the Sherwood RD 7502 or the Sherwood DR 5405

Auxiliary Stereo Speakers?

_

What are the best speakers I can buy that have the red and white ports on the back? I have a budget of £50.00 but I just want some that can sit beside my PC for desktop use.

Thanks all! (They must have those red/white ports!)

Answer
Hello,

Sounds like you are located in the UK. 50 pounds is about $75 USD. For that price you have a number of options depending on whether you want traditional stereo speakers or a subwoofer/satellite system. Also, there's alot more options if you were willing to buy something used on eBay for example. But I will assume you want to buy new.

Here are some of the better powered desktop stereo speakers in your price range:

M-Audio Studiophile AV30
Bose Companion 2
Behringer MS16

If you want more bass, the Logitech Z523 is a subwoofer/satellite system for about $75 which looks pretty good as well. But this will take up more space than the other three. Any of these should give you good sound though. Amazon.com is a good place to look at these items and compare user reviews.

By the way, you can easily convert the red & white RCA plugs you're talking about into 3.5mm for use with any speakers that need it. Here is an example:

http://www.amazon.com/RiteAV-3-5mm-Stereo-Female-Cable/dp/B0018MI5F6/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1276511498&sr=8-29

Hope that helps.

but i dont know if this is wireless and if it includes everything i need

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/-/281/363/-/9556370/Samsung-HT-TZ225-Home-Theatre-System/Product.html?searchtype=genre

does this include wireless ?

Answer
Another option is to just buy normal wired speakers, and then get a wireless transmitter for them.

I have one such transmitter for my rear speakers from Rocketfish which is only sold in stores here, but I'm sure other similar products exist.

The way this works is there's a transmitter you connect to your stereo's rear speaker ports, and then there's the wireless receiver you connect to speakers to. Both the transmitter and receiver need to be plugged in, or they can just use batteries. The transmitter can even plug into your receiver so when it powers on, the transmitter does too, and establishes a connection with the rear speakers.

It was about $100, and works with any speaker that uses a standard red/black wire connection. Very easy to set up, and it works pretty well.

You can buy a "decent" new CB Radio under $50 and an "inexpensive" trumpet speaker for around $11 (don't forget tax and shipping if applicable). Most radios and speakers come with directions, but every installation is different.

Which 2.1 PC speaker system is better?

Jedius99

So I'm in the market for a new set of PC speakers; I've pretty much tired of my old JBL 2.1 system. I'm also buying a new LCD TV and I briefly thought of getting a 5.1 system and somehow switching it between my PC and my TV, but I dismissed that idea cause I'll prob want to watch TV and use my PC at the same time.

Anyway so I've decided that for now I will just settle for a new 2.1 system for my PC and the TV audio should be adequate. I was looking at two main systems, the Logitech X-230/240, and I just saw a display in PC Richards yesterday of the Bose Companion 3 Series II system (the Companion 5 was really cool - it emulates 5.1 with only 2 speakers - but the $400 price tag is out of my range). I'm wondering if it's really worth it to splurge $250 for the Bose system, or to stick to a cheaper set that may be pretty darn good itself.

So...do I go for the Bose? Or do I stick to a cheaper model? And if the cheaper one, is the Logitech the best to get? Or are there others?

Answer
With 250, you can buy a 5.1+ speaker set. I don't think it's justifiable to spend 250 on a 2.1 speaker set no matter what. If I were you, I would stick with the Logitech. The best way of course is to go to a local store (Best Buy, Fry's) and listen to them. If you're really into bass, look for the one with more watts. Bose is a good company, but I feel that they are too overrated. If the specs for the speakers are similar, then I'd stick with the Logitechs. You should look for online reviews to compare.

what difference between 2.1 & 5.1 speaker system?

AQEEL AHMA

Answer
Well 2.1 implies 2 small speakers and 1 subwoofer. This is basically a music system in stereo.

5.1 implies 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer. All DVD's, BlueRay and HDTV channels come with 5.1 sound so this system would work for TV watching and Movie watching.

How do i setup my home theatre speakers system? the other 4 speakers are not functioning.?

Sackie

My home theatre is a samsung, h35s5

Answer
I have Samsung HDTV's with Samsung home theater audio systems in two homes. While most home theater systems now have color-coded speaker wire matching the inputs, you can also just read the labeling for front, rear, left, right, center, sub-woofer, etc.

Keep in mind two things: Only the left and right front speakers (and sub-woofer for bass) will work when watching stereo television. With 5.1 surround systems (Dolby/DTS) the front center is used for speech while the rear two (surround) speakers will only be activated occasionally for special sound effects (as in a movie theater) and even each of those may activate independently too. Through the home theater setup menu, you can adjust the volume of each speaker to your liking (such as if you need to boost the center speaker to hear dialogue better), and you can also run their test that runs through all 5.1 (or 7.1) speakers sequentially with test tones to be sure all are active and working correctly and are at the desired volume level. The front LED display on your home theater receiver should also indicate which speakers are "active" at the time depending on if you're watching a DVD, broadcast TV, stereo, 5.1 surround, etc. as an added confirmation. You can usually even choose to keep the TV speakers on as well or have them disabled when listening via the home theater system. Keeping them enabled at the same time may result in a slight delay or echo effect however.

Finally, some systems give you the option of "Party" or "music" mode, bridging all speakers mono, so that the 4 primary speakers are always active, all producing the same sound at the same time. This is ideal when playing music and you just want even room coverage (such as during a party) but is not ideal when watching DVD's or broadcasts in true 5.1 surround sound.

Hope this helps!

I am looking to create a killer sound system for my computer setup, but the problem is I have no clue what I should use⦠I don't want to spend over $200 but I rather spend just $150. I was thinking of getting two sony SS-B1000, but what amp should i get to power them? Is there any other speakers you would recommend to me? I am looking at only spending like $50 on the amp, but If i have to spend more what everâ¦

Answer
That's a pretty small budget for a "killer sound system". Especially if you are going to try to piece it together yourself. Component systems are typically better, but are more expensive.

As one person has pointed out, the Klipsch pro-media system is really nice. I had a set of them years ago before I built my component system.

I would also highly recommend keeping you eyes open for some nice used speakers on craigslist or ebay. Sony doesn't really make very good speakers. About a year ago I bought a pair of Mirage M290is speakers for about $110 after shipping. As for sound quality, they will blow away anything Sony has ever built.

*diamond xtreme sound card 5.1

*creative labs sound blaster 7.1

or anyother sound card you suggest that will work better?
and also do u think that i can connect these speaker system to my brothers ps2?

Answer
Look at the specifications provided by Logitech as to its inputs:

-Digital optical for DVD or CD players, PlayStation®2, Xbox®**
-Digital coaxial for DVD or CD players or PC sound cards (requires coaxial cable, sold separately)
-6 channel direct (3 stereo-mini connectors) for 2, 4, or 6 channel PC sound cards OR
-6 channel direct (3 stereo-mini connectors) for 3 stereo analog mini audio sources, like CD and DVD players, -Playstation 2, Xbox, or 2 channel PC sound cards (somedevices may require stereo mini to dual RCA adapter, sold separately)
-Analog stereo-mini (on side panel of control center) for portable CD, MP3,or MiniDisc® players

Use that determine which sound card would be best for both the computer and to find out whether the PS2 will work (they mention it twice).

Problem with surround sound speakers (computer)?

subzerofun

I have Logitech 5.1 surround sound speakers for my computer. For some reason after a reboot I was unable to select 5.1 from the drop down list (in the Creative Sound Board, as I have a Creative soundcard). For as long as I had the speakers, every time the power would fail, the speaker settings would reset. No biggie...but now I cannot even get it back to 5.1, as only 7.1 is available to choose. The settings reset as well every time I restart my computer. Any solutions?
I guess I should just reinstall the CreativeAssembly. I wanted to avoid that lol since it takes long, but I guess it's my only option.

Answer
Can you reload the program disk for Logitech or upload it from the web site. Or you can go to system restore if you have windows and see if that helps. Start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. It doesn't remove any files.

what is the hole in my speaker for?

markomakaz

you know that hole in the sub-woofer? whats it do? if i turn my bass all the way up, will i damage my speakers? i got logitech speaker system Z323

Answer
Speakers built up pressure when they're being used, especially bass and subwoofer systems at high volume levels, the "holes" help to reduce this pressure and keep the speakers performing at an optimal level.

What is wrong with my speakers?

So I have Logitech speakers similar to these
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/speakers-audio/home-pc-speakers/devices/speaker-system-z323
And no sound is coming out. I checked all the connections and they are fine, and the speakers are getting power because they are making a very quiet buzzing sound. When I plug in my headphones they work. So im not sure whats wrong. They are plugged into my computer and I made sure the volume is turned up and everything.
The speakers are already enabled and default but they still dont work.

Answer
Try right clicking the volume icon in your system tray. then click playback devices. If your speakers do not show up, right click the white background and click "show disabled devices". If speakers pop up, then right click them and click enable. Also i would reccomend clicking "set as default device".
