I know that a home theatre subwoofer only uses one connection where as the custom logitech 5.1 speaker system sub has the 5 speakers that connect to it. i was wondering if there was some type of adapter that could take the 5 leads from the logitech speakers and narrow them down to one lead (like the home theatre system), and connect it to a home theatre sub. there probably isn't but i was just wonderin. cheers

Answer
No, you do not want to do that. The sub has a dedicated output from a stereo receiver/amp and if you try to split a signal from another cable it won't work. You will blow the sub if you try to do what you are suggesting. That Logitech system is designed to work only with their speaker system and they have a special cable that will transmit the correct signal to their sub,

How do I get the sound from my computer to play through external speakers while using an HDMI cable for the TV?

First sorry the title was so long...anyway; I'm using an HP laptop connected to my flat screen via an HDMI cable connected directly into both the tv and computers HDMI ports. I have a Logitech 5:1 speaker system that plugs into my computers headphone outlet that I want to use as surround sound instead of the factory tv speakers. Is there any way i can make this work?

Answer
right click n the speaker icon and press playback devices, on the window that pops up, there should be ur laptop speakers, the tv speakers and the external speakers, just set those as default and ull be fine
