Speaker System Project? (car?

jvojtushjr

I am going to set up my own car speaker system and i have somne questions. I was going to get a head unit that has 6 channels, 17W rms, and i was going to replace the front 2 speakers (5 1/4") and the back 2 (6x9"). I am adding a subwoofer and possibly 2 tweeters. i dont understand how the watts are distributed to each speaker, if the head unit only offers 17W , am i understanding it wrong? also would it work to add a pair of tweeters because im guessing 2 chanels for front, 2 for back speakers, and the other 2 for the subwoofer. am i wrong?

Answer
yeah it probably says : 17w x 6 which means its a 102w deck, so if you connected 4 speakers it would be 25.5w to each speaker and all 6x9 are 3 way speakers meaning they are fitted with tweeters in the center, i recommend that you just connect you front 2 speakers and your 2 rear 6x9, if u do that don't expect to much performance, just a lil better then a standard car stereo, theres is no way it will have enough power to run a sub... if you want the sound that it seems like your looking for then you'll have to get a amp and your deck will have to have RCA output, for the set up you seem to be after i would suggest to get a 5 channel amp which is 2 front 2 rear and a sub channel....

Looking to put a speaker system in my car..?

I currently looking to replace my cars audio syatem by myself and am looking if anybody knows of a guide or something I can follow because I have never done it before. Im replacing everything, head units, speakers, putting in some woofers an amp and am looking for a place where I can figure out what I need.

Answer
For replacing the radio, you will need a dash kit and a harness. You can find which ones you need off of: http://www.metraonline.com/productsl.aspx
From there, you can order those parts anywhere off the internet or at a local car audio shop.

For speakers, you can use that same website I showed you. It tells you what size your stock speakers are so you know which ones to replace.
Once again, you can order the speakers you need off a website such as www.woofersetc.com or at any local car audio shop.

Now on to woofers:
This depends on how much room you want to take up. Typically, the smaller the woofer, the smaller the enclosure. You can order your woofers off the www.woofersetc.com They are very legit.

A good place to learn some basic knowledge about what you are about to attempt is www.bcae1.com

Hope this helps.

EDIT:
For the guy talking about the alpine stuff, you cannot bridge a mono block amp FYI
