Q. It happened when i tried to update it from the firmware they had on the samsung website so i hooked my usb up to the system and i did'nt know that the update did not finish so i pulled the usb out and after that my speakers won't work or anything no more the power still comes on but there are no sound and it wont read anything and no display on screen can someone help me out? I called the samsung and they said i need to send it in but i don't wanna do that if there is something simple i can do to make it work again they told me when i pulled the usb out before the update was done i earased all the software in it.

Answer
Since you have a invalid bios then with there design it will not allow communications until this is remedied, the fix involves taking the eeprom for bios out an doing a manual flash is the only way to fix this.

You probably don't have the software or eeprom flasher to accomplish this. So your only option is to let the manufacture fix it.

How to change frequency response speakers?

After The

Hi, I was just wondering if this is possible to do, the plan was to take 6 of the same small speakers, use 3 each to make 2 3-way speakers. I was going to make the 3 into high, middle and low frequencies. Is this possible? Thanks.

Answer
What you need is called a crossover network. There are active and passive crossovers with active being placed prior to the amplifiers and passive being between the amplifier and the speakers.

Active crossovers are the easiest to design because they do not have to deal with non linear impedances. These however require you to have separate amplifiers for each frequency band. Also, "easier" yes but it requires a knowledge of analog circuit design and the components will be op-amps, resistors, and capacitors as opposed to primarily inductors and capacitors with a few resistors. Passive is simpler in that it does not require active devices like op-amps and power supplies but passive is far more complex in terms of the calculations to determine crossover frequency, slope etc. Also, passive can only approximate whereas active can be very precise.

There are generic passive crossovers but they can't work well because they can not predict the impedance curve or the frequency response of the speakers to be used. To design a crossover network properly you need a software package like LspCAD. (800 euro or about $1,100) You also need a measurement system, http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=390-790 for about $300. You really can not do it properly without such tools.

It isn't normal to use identical drivers with one being for low frequency, another mid and another high frequency. Normally the low frequency driver is much larger with more cone excursion, the tweeter is small with perhaps a dome instead of a cone and the midrange is something in between.

If you just want to learn about crossover design you can read about it on the Linkwitzlab web site... http://www.linkwitzlab.com/crossovers.htm
