Equipment suggestions for multi room audio system?

Cdizzle50

Just moved into a house that has a setup in four rooms and I was looking to get opinions for equipment. The setup is as such:

Kitchen: 2 speakers in the ceiling

Dining room 2 speakers in the ceiling with a volume and source select keypad

Master Bed: 2 speaker in the ceiling with volume keypad and outlet box for speaker connect under the tv

Basement: 2 speakers in the ceiling with volume keypad

I also notice in the den area a single source audio input box.

I would like to have it so that I could have different things playing in each room if its possible with this setup.

Thanks
Thanks for the replies. I tried getting the make and model from the keypad but it doesn't have a name on it.

Answer
Depending on how the system is wired will depend on what flexibilty you will have. Your best bet is to go and discover your local high end audio video store, as they are experienced in how to properly install a whole house audio system, and they are the only ones that sell these systems anyway. The chain stores have no clue, and dont carry anything worth purchasing anyhow.

Again depending on how the system is wired will depend on what flexiblity you will have and what system you can put in. There are a number of systems available at many different price points, and the more flexibilty you want the more expensive it will get of course.

Control 4 is one of the newer kids on the block and one of the more affordable systems available, so you might look into that. Then you have ELAN, CRESTRON, AMX, which are higher end systems and can get very expensive very fast, but you can do just about anything with these systems. Just about anything you can think of.

They all require programming from certified programers and installers.

So again discover your local dealer for your best options.

You may also be able to do a simple install if costs are a factor, again these high end dealers can help you choose the right system for you needs and budget.

Do NOT go with a independent audio video installer who is not from a store front they most likely are not trustworth, do questionable work, and good luck getting service after the installation.

What would be the easiest way to hook up a multi room 26 speaker sound system?

Marc

This is for our new fraternity house. The problem i am having is finding a way to hook all of the amplifiers up together to a mixer that i would then hook up to a computer. I know mixers are made for multiple imputs, but what i need is multiple outputs. Does something like this exist? Most mixers that i have found have only had two outputs. The way i have it set up now i would need 5 outputs. Two of the AMP outputs are 1/4 inch, one is RCA and one is either XLR or RCA. This is a lot to spell out in one question so if you need any more info please dont hesitate to contact me back. Thank you!

Answer
What you need to take a look at are whole house audio systems Home Theater Direct is a good source for do it your selfers a mixer may not be compatible with HTD systems though there are systems than have XLR connections but they tend to be the more expensive ones...also DJ mixers that have muliple outputs like that can be rather expensive also....
