My dad just bought 9 wall speakers he wants to install in his house for music. I do electrical work but not low voltage so i am not familiar with how i should wire the speakers. MY MAIN QUESTION IS THIS, Is it okay for me to wire 3 speakers at a time in parallel? Or would i be better off wiring them in series? They are rated at 8ohms and handle 90 watts. I am not sure what receiver he will be buying yet. I also dont know what gauge wire would be best for this, the furthest speaker will be about 70 feet away.

In general, speakers should be wired neither in parallel nor series. They should be wired individually and separately to the source.
Your question is vague. What is Dad going to do with 9 speakers? A single 9.1 surround system? A 7.1 system plus a stereo pair? A 5.1 system plus 2 stereo pairs?
In no case should you make the assumption that wiring speakers together will work.

i'm going to be buying a whole new system for my 1983 Chevy c-10 the truck only has 6 x 9 in the door old ones i want to update it i was going to do kicker sub 10 inch(the one in the truck box) and 6x 9(3-way) speakers in the door i was going to bridge the sub(4 ohms) and then put each 6 x 9 on the left and right of the front on the amp do they have to be 2 ohm speakers the amp is an eclipse ea4200 i have bought any of this yet i just want to know what i need for it

You need a pair of 6x9, 4-ohm each. The sub needs to be a SVC 4-ohm one. Hook up the 6x9 speakers to channels 1 & 2 (or front). Bridge channels 3 & 4 (or rear) for the sub. That amp is rated at 60x4@4-ohms RMS. Bridged it is 150 RMS. So you would get 6- watts RMS to each 6x9, and 150 watts RMS to the sub. Make sure you get a 4-ohm sub, as that amp is not rated into 2-ohms bridged. If you get a DVC sub, it needs to have 2-ohm or 8-ohm coils. Wire them into a 4-ohm load (2-ohm coils will be series wiring, 8-ohm coils will be parallel wiring). My personal e-mail is chris_harper1970@yahoo.com if you have any other questions.
Added: Do not run the 6x9 speakers off the HU. That 50x4 will be peak, and you always ignore peak ratings. Do like I said, you will be much happier.
