do u think this home theater speaker system is any good for the price http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4810671. i want to use it to hook up my tv to it ps2 xbox directv reciver. i dont want it to sound bad its for a small room and dont want to spend a lot of money. if you can find something better for less than 100 id like to know thanks!!!!

For what you are trying to do that system will work, and obviously your budget is a concern, however it does not have all the inputs necessary if you want to connect each of your products individually.
You will have to do one of two things:
You will have to do is connect each of the devices to your television, and if your TV has an audio output, you will run an audio cable from your TV's audio output to the speaker system, and whatever is on the TV screen will come out through the speaker system. This would be the absolute easiest way.
If your TV doesn't have an audio output, the other option is to buy an Audio/Video switcher. This will allow you to run the yellow, white and red cables from each of your devices into the switcher and then run video out to your TV, and audio to the speaker system. A little more complicated, but you could also use the optical input that the system offers for your PS2.
Based on what you've got and what you are wanting to spend you may want to look into some computer speakers. Look at a few systems that have surround capabilities, but also offer an auxillary input on them (typically on the subwoofer, and most systems offer it). In the $50 - $150 range you will get more performance from some Logitech or Creative brand computer speakers than you will out of the durabrand system. If Wal-mart.com is where you're going check out their PC Speaker section and you'll find a few systems from Logitech and Creative that will give you very good sound.

Decent Home Theatre Speaker System?

My dad decided to enhance our TV & DVD experience with some speakers. He would love the BOSE 3.2.1 which is crazy expensive an not worth the money. He however likes the idea of the "BOSE Acoustimass 5" speaker system for $399. I know some people despise BOSE though I personally have never used, listened, or really gotten into Audio Equipment. But we have DirecTV with a Samsung 50" HDTV and a Panasonic DVD Player/Recorder. The DirecTV and DVD would need to be able to connect to this system and the price range $0 to $400 maybe $500 but probably not $600 unless it's REALLY GOOD. I know I can't get the Lamborghini/Corvette of speaker systems but what's the nicest system you know? Also please do not list surround sound. Surround sound is great. I have it in my room from Logitech, but the Living Room doesn't have a centered setup for it. But what is a good quality Front Speaker System. (Bass, Left, and Right (w/ possible Center Speaker)) THANK YOU!

Hi. Loudspeakers are the most difficult component to recommend because they all add their own "sound" to the sound they are reproducing. Everybody has their own favourite sound and there are not two people alike who prefer the exact same sound.Even loudspeakers with impressive specifications are not a guarantee of sound quality,although good speakers do have some specifications that are helpful in deciding.
Basically there are 4 types of speaker sound.
(1) Speakers that emphasise the high frequencies.
(2) Speakers that emphasize the mid-range (voice and singing) frequencies.
(3) Speakers that have more bass in relation to the mid-range and treble.frequencies.
(4) Speakers that dont emphasize any of their frequency range. These speakers are called "neutral sounding" and are generally preferred by High Fidelity music enthuiasts.
Also there are speakers with a mixture of the 4 main types. These are hard to discribe.
So, what i need to know is what type of speaker sound do you think is the right sound for you.? If you can let me know we can see what is available.
