Desktop CPU connected to my 56" LCD Projection tv, but it is playing sound off the TV speakers, not the system?

PlayinDaGa

I have a Home Theater System from Philips [HTS3555], I remembered buying a Monster Cable where it had one connection on one side and the other side had 2 connections. Does anyone have any directions or installation guides to connected the Sound cable to the Monster Cable? Some techs told me to connect the Monster Cable to the DVD player and then you can have the sound come out from the Sound system instead of just the TV speakers. Help please!

Answer
Ok there is a couple things you can check.

1. If you connect the CPU to the TV directly. Then you will need to run a cable from the TV(audio out port) to the Home Theater system (audio In Port).

2. Hook the video from the CPU to the TV directly and then hook the audio to the Home theater system. (You home theater system has an optical input so this is what you would use for audio input) So 1 cable for video to tv and 1 cable for audio to theater system.

NOTE: I'm not sure what your inputs and outputs you have on your TV and CPU.

Let me know if you need more assistance. I'll just need those details

Speakers for Sylvania '19 LCD TV?

asucollege

Bought a Sylvania '19 LCD tv but the sound quality is crap. I tried to hook up some basic computer speakers but its a no go. I need suggestions for cheap easy solution to add speakers. Connections on the back of the tv include: pc input jack, HDMI input jack, antenna input jack, component video and audio jack, video input jack (RCA Video for external devices), audio input (RCA), audio input (rca audio for DVI), audio input for P.C, coxial digital cable output, s-video input.

So it seems the only output is the digital coax. does this mean I need special speakers that Accepts this and do these speakers actually exist. Again, this is a '19 tv for a bed room, I don't need a high powered speaker system!

Answer
>>need special speakers

No... you need a surround sound receiver and a pair of unamplified bookshelf loudspeakers. Just get some old cruddy unit off Craigslist, and pair up with small bookshelfs of decent pedigree. Use it as your bedroom stereo, too, by adding a CD player. Or, if you have cable or satellite, route the audio from your box to any cheap stereo with RCA inputs. Vintage boomboxes, most mini-systems, and all receivers should work for this. Perhaps overkill again, but definitely the cheapest and easiest way, as RCA inputs are ubiquitous as are cheap minisystems.
