speakers and horn?

whelchel77

if my speakers and horn both stopped working at the same time would this indicate a fuse problem?
the speakers and everything worked fine one day and about 9 hours later went to trun on the radio and no sound... then aobut an hour later whil driving I needed the horn and nothing... nothing has happened or changed and the cd player shows it is playing and the radio still lights and says it is playing but no sound???

Answer
Depending on what car, year, etc. most newer cars wire the horn through the clockspring inside the steering wheel, and if you had steering wheel mounted radio controls, the sound system is affected by the clockspring as well. so i would say probably more of a clock spring issue if anything, especially if its a newer car.

2004 yukon w/bose system problem, please help!?

recently bought an '04 yukon with the bose radio system. the radio plays but i have no display. Also, it has a 6 disc player but it will not accept a cd either. i have to use the steering wheel controls to change the stations becuse none of the buttons work on the radio and volume its very aggrevating. I have disconnected the radio with hopes it would reset, also took the top cover off to see if there was an obstruction but nothing. i was going to replace it with an aftermarket radio but was informed i would lose some of the fuctions of the system like steering wheel controls and any amps associated with the bose system. its not the dimmer light either. thanks inadvance for any info!

Answer
It sounds like a problem with the head unit. Your two choices are: replace the unit with a quality aftermarket head unit, there are available modules to interface the steering wheel functions with the aftermarket radio and another for the Bose system. You could also take the dollars you would tie up in the aftermarket equipment and have the factory radio repaired- that is the route I would take.

Just wanted to add, the reason I suggested repair (yes there are places that repair factory radios) is that you have to replace all speakers from the Bose system because they have amps built to them. (Dude, correct me if I'm wrong.)
