Q. Do you have a Dolby 5.1 or the like system? Is it worth the money? even if one watches only DVD movies. And do you still go out to movies?

Surround sound is very good but you can not get a decent system for $150.00. If money is a factor you can get used at a good price, plan $500.00 to $700.00 for a decent used system. Try to get Onkyo or HK receiver and KEF or Energy speakers, not the best but good. And yes I still go to the theatre for the great movies but not that often.

My bedroom is 12 feet by 12 feet and im looking for a 5:1 surround sound system that is loud and has ALOT of bass for when i listen to music, watch movies and play my xbox.Can anyone help me ?

i would buy all the parts seperateley but considering what you are looking at using it for xbox/music what you want is a marantz reciever because it has a crossover to automatically pass LF on to the sub many home theater systems will not give off any sound from the subwoofer if it is not 5.1 (the point 1 is the subwoofer channel) and also most systems wont give you surround sound from video games only stereo and once again NO SUB the marantz recievers have a computer in them to up-mix acuratley stereo sound (like that from games music etc) to true accurate surround sound as far as the speakers go i would go with these http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3475651 they can take alot of abuse and are full range this particular desing of speakers is simply incredible giving off awesome sound and they are extremly hard to blow (trust me ive abused the sh!t outta mine) and as far as the subwoofer goes i would look at a KEF PSW model this kind of sub can give some serious bass in fact ive had to turn the volume down on it because the amount of bass was shaking my entire house and it cracked one of my windows because when i first got it i had no idea how much it would give out and i turned it all the way up anyways except for the speakers which i gave a link to you can look on amazon etc and check the prices of these things good luck with all this feelo free to contact me about anything having to do with audio (im a big time audiophile and know alot more then you will ever want to know about it) my email is dagrateglob@yahoo.com or just dagrateglob for Y!M
