Im looking to take advantage of the cyber monday deals today, and am looking for a portable speaker system that has very good base and would allow me to plug my ipod or ipad in without having to connect the speakers to a computer. What is the very best speaker system under $100 (cyber monday deals) with a lot of bass and good sound quality? Note: I am not looking for headphones

Answer
Jawbone Jambox wireless bluetooth speaker can be had for $119 on Amazon.com
I would think for the money Jawbone would be hard to beat. As you know you pay for bass, whatever you get will not raise eyebrows. A far better option would be to purchase a pair of Dayton Audio B652 bookshelf speakers for $43.83 ass to it LP-2020A Lepai Tripath Class-T Hi Fi Audio Mini Amp with power supply for $15.69. I assure you this would be the far better sounding set up under $100 anyone can imagine with money to spare. You may have to get a few cables for everything to come together but you would still be within your $100 budget. It will put a smile on your face every time you hear it.

Enjoy

what would be a good speaker system that has heavy bass but still clear to hear?

Answer
There is a reason why subs are called subs and mids called mids and highs called highs.

If you want to build a system correctly and you want good bass WITHOUT distrotion then you have to have a bass speaker only do bass. I know everyone is going to say no but is been done this MANY times in the past of putting an AMP on the factory radio and speakers and adding a sub with sub AMP is the most inexpensive way to go and it sounds GOOD. Wont win any contest for SPL of clarity but for the money and just starting out this is a super easy way to go. NOW there are some stipulations to this: 1. Factory speakers do not need to be any more than 6mos to a year old. 2. speakers can not be amplified say like a BOSE system. Most of those have 1 OHM speakers in them anyway. 3. Radio sometimes radio can not have pre-amp out put for speakers. The voltage is to low and an aftermarket amp will not work well with it.

I have a NEW 2008 Toy Taco that I plan on putting a 4 channel amp in to run the whole system. 2 channel, left and right, to run front and rear speakers putting left speakers and right speakers together to make 2 ohm so the amp will run harper on 2 channels. On the other side it will be only the sub bridged at 4 ohms. Both sides will have crossovers so only mids and highs go to factory speakers and the other side will be set to low/sub so only bass goes to sub woofer. I dont think they make a dash kit for my veh so i will be using the factory radio also. Right now if you turn the volume up you can hear the bass coming thru the mids distorting the sound even with bass almost all the way down.

now it also depends on what type of veh you have to know what type of sub you need. Bandpass or basstube does not always work on all vehs.

Well that was kind of long but figured I would explain in full my thought process. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Oh and I have been doing alarms, audio and video in vehs for about 15 years.
