Amplifier or Speakers for my Microphone?

MR. ME

i am buying a new sennheiser wireless microphone system but should i buy an amp similar to this

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Marshall+-+10W+Guitar+Combo+Amplifier/9219482.p?id=1218061793594&skuId=9219482&st=guitar amp&cp=1&lp=1

or some speakers kinda like these

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Behringer+-+Eurolive+P1220+12%22+2-Way+PA+Speaker+(Each)/8885691.p?id=1213399954075&skuId=8885691

so please give your best advice and if either type (not specific product) would work could you tell me which would give better sound

Answer
The first one's designed for guitar not microphone. In theory, you could use a 1/4 to XLR cable to connect a mic but it would sound pretty bad, especially since guitar amps don't reproduce vocal-specific frequencies very well.

The second is a passive PA speaker, so it needs an external power amp to drive it.

You're probably looking for an active/powered PA speaker like these:

Wireless Sound System For Stage Including Speakers?

Eli O

I work at a private school, and one of my several duties is running the drama department. Our stage is in the gymnasium which is something that can not be changed and we do not have regular stage lighting. Our sound system is rather old and it is difficult to hear some of the students, even with our current microphones and projection. The PTO has come to me and said that they are willing to start building up a fund to install a new state of the art sound system. What I am looking to get is about 25 wireless lapel microphones, that can be controlled from the middle of the gym and easily moved away for PE classes. I realize this will involve some hooking up and unhooking each time. We don't have any permanent place that the equipment can remain hooked up. We could also use about four to 6 wireless speakers that are compatable with the microphones or something where I can hook all the microphones up to the same speakers. If anyone has any ideas where I can start to look for some of this equipment and how much it would cost, (I know it is pricey!) it would be of great help to my students, the school, and myself.

Answer
You do not want to have wireless microphones go to wireless speakers.
