which down loadable d.v.d. players which ignore region specification

i watch a lot of Hollywood movies with my p.c.which have sound blaster audgy 7.1 home theater speaker system.most d.v.d.s will not playable in my region i.e. India.can you suggest a d.v.d player which ignores region and giver supports 7.1. speaker system. which should be downloadable.

Sad to tell you the problem is in the drive. The region specification is located on the flash memory in the physical disc drive. I have recently flashed the memory on my laptop's drive, which went quite well and was not too difficult. It is now region free. I also use VLC Media player to play the movies, it seems to work the best with the discs coming from out of my region.

*Word of Caution! If a problem occurs while you are unlocking you drive, it may completely kill your drive!*

surround sound solution for multiple devices simultaneously?

Q. I have a Sony KDL32EX710 32" Bravia tv,xbox360,ps3slim,airtel digital TV [HD] and all 3 devices are connnected to the tv via hdmi 1.3 cables. I want 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound on all 3 devices simultaneously without having to physically change cables when i switch between the 3 devices.all 4 devices have digital input(with an adapter on the 360). My budget is between 500-800$,Can logitech z 5500 achieve what i want and are there much better options than that one? So please suggest a couple of audio systems and the other things i need that are available in india and how to setup all of them properly, thank you......

thank you for replying. i have searched around and settled on ONKYO HT-S5400 7.1 HOME THEATER SPEAKER SYSTEM, so with this i will get 7.1 sound via hdmi and 5.1 sound via optical correct ?

Wait - your question is confusing.

You say you want sound from all 3 devices simultaneously? "Simultaneously" means "at the same time". So you want sound from the Airtel, the xbox and the PS3 at the same time?

I think you used the word incorrectly. You really want the sound and video to change in sync.

Does your TV have an Optical Output? Most HDTV's have this to feed a 5.1 sound system. When you switch from HDMI1 to HDMI2 to HDMI3 - the sound from the optical output switches as well.

You just have to hook up a Receiver or Soundbar that has optical inputs to the optical output of the TV.

The TV basically acts like a switch for you.

Logitech is ... a set of computer speakers. This is designed to give 1 person sitting at a desk surround sound. It is NOT a home theater system designed to fill a room or mimic a theater. Some people try to use computer speakers in their living room - then have to re-purchase the entire set within a year or so because they crank the volume and over-drive the speakers and amp.

You are better off looking for a Sound Bar or a used Dolby Digital receiver and speakers. But if the z5500 speaker system has an optical input - it will work. Just remember the limitations.
