I'm buying a 2011 Lancer SE (without the fosgate 9 speaker system) next spring. What kind of after-market audio system do you recommend between 300$ - 1000$ and why? (Including subwoofer, car deck and amplifier. Speakers are optional if they fit in the price range.)
Thanks for the links, DA 1-2 B. I'm thinking of getting a sound quality system, for enjoying music, loudness is not really important.

Can I turn a positive/negative speaker leaded system into a headphone jack?

Courageous

I just got a set of very nice speakers, however they end in plus/minus wiring. The exposed leads of silver and copper for old systems. How can I enable these speakers for use in the widely accessible 3.5mm headphone style jacks?

Answer
As TV guy stated, you will need an amplifier. The reason the speakers don't have headphone jack leads is because they are not compatible with headphones and aren't meant to be plugged into them.

The output of your MP3 player (or other devices using 3.5mm outputs) produce such a low wattage signal that trying to power your speakers would be like trying to run your television off a AA battery. An amplifier must be used to boost the signal.

This is what computer speakers come in handy. They have internal amplifiers, which is why they need to be plugged into a power outlet.
