Should I connect a Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System directly to my tv?

Highmaan

Is connecting the Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System directly to the audio out on my tv set a good idea?...I'm planning on buying one soon to enhance the sound quaility mainly for when I watch digital cable , and also to play ps2 and watch dvds also what kind of connecting adapter do I need(thats important to know)?

Answer
Nope. Not unless your tv decodes 5.1 or the speakers decode the analog signal out of the tv into 5.1. Otherwise you'll just hear left and right speakers. Plus amplifiers in tv sets are crap. Get a cheap 5.1 receiver then hood the stuff up to it. check ebay.

How do I get full 5.1 sorround using the logitech X-530 5.1 speaker system on a PS3?.?

Th3F3shPri

Hello, I just purchased a logitech X-530 speaker system and I'd like to know how I can get full 5.1 sorround sound using a ps3 with it. The PS3 only supports 5.1 audio with an optical cable, and this speaker system does not have that. What to I have to buy or do to allow me to use this speaker system with my PS3 to get full 5.1 sorround sound?

For clarification, these are the same speakers I have:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-X-530-5-1-Speaker-System/dp/B0002WPSCG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1290984296&sr=8-4

Answer
You can not use computer speakers for your play station. The system does not have a decoder to decode the signal of Dolby Digital or DTS. That is why it is called computer speaker and not home theater. You will need a receiver or a home theater in a box. Hope this will help you out.

Answer
Yes, I have my smaller 2.1 system hooked up to my TV, and it is awesome. You will just need an audio adapter like this one http://www.frontx.com/pro/c216_042p2.gif , and a double female 3.5mm adapter like this one http://www.tecnec.com/Product.asp?baseItem=MF&cat=CABLESCONN&subcat=ACONNECT&prodClass=MCON&mfg=TecNec+Cables+%26+Connectors&search=0&off= .

I recently brought the Logitech X-530 PC Multimedia Home Theatre Speaker System - 70 Watt (Total) (5.1) and i really wanna connect them to my Samsung TV! the main speaker has cables Green, Orange and Black with an adapter which you can turn it into white and red audio. But when i plug it into the back of my tv it wont work!! i run it through the headphone port at the moment (green cable) but only the front two speakers work. can anyone help ?

Answer
The surround capabilities for these speakers do not support TVs. They do support game consoles and DVD players with a game console adapter, but in order to get surround sound from your TV, you need a separate receiver.

The reason is because your TV will only deliver 2 channels of sound, whereas your DVD/Xbox/PS3 will deliver the 5.1 necessary to hear sound throughout all the speakers. If you have a cable box, try hooking the speakers up to that and you will be able to get the 5.1 sound on channels broadcasting it.

However, if you want surround sound through your TV, you have to get a receiver that will produce the 6 channel audio the TV won't.

What kind of audo cable should I use to make my 5.1 speakers the dominant audio for a sony bravia 32' monitor?

silvrfirel

I bought a Sony KLV32U100 32" Bravia HDTV Tunerless LCD Monitor. I have a Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System for computers. Would there be a special cable for me to plug into that monitor to use the 5.1 speakers as the dominant audio source? I also plan to use a digital cable box with this monitor and use the sound from the speakers. Can I do this?

Can someone please help me?

Answer
You will need a regular AV cable only using the Red and White parts of it. Plug it into your TV's audio output in the back and then into the surround sound system and then Go into your TV's Settings and you will be able to disable the TV's speakers from there. When ur cable box comes you just unplug it from behind your TV and plug it into you cable boxes output and the video will go to the TV. If you have a problem you can call me from my website below.

I have the Logitech X-530 5 speaker + woofer sound system, but the main speaker where the cords plug into my PC, the cords are all screwed up and won't work 98% of the time, so all I need to replace the one speaker and cords. Is there anywhere where I can buy JUST that without spending to get a whole new system?

Answer
email Logitech customer support they sometimes have spares that they sell.

but you will be better off going onto ebay and searching for spares/repairs on the same speakers, they might not be any now but keep checking as people usually add them.
