How to hook up my surround sound Logitech Z906 Speakers to my TV?

Justin

I have the RCA cables and it didn't work! I really would like to do it I have an RCA tv even the model is L32H35D i think. My sound system is Logitech z906. Please help!
So I have a Optical cable for my laptop....I unplugged it and put it into my TV and it didn't work but I also have a USB adapter on my laptop connecting the output I really would like my TV to play through my sound system any ideas?

Answer
That is a nicer than normal speaker set.

It accepts optical so this is how you should hook into the speakers. Look on the back of your RCA television for a small black opening that says "Optical Output". Buy a Toslink Optical cable to run from this jack to the input on the Logitech system.

If the TV does not have an optical output, are you using a Cable or Sat box to feed TV signals to the TV? These almost always have an optical output.

Hope this helps.

Digital Coaxial vs. Digital Optical - Speaker System?

Corey

I plan on buying the THX Certified Logitech Z906 speaker system for my studio set-up, and I just had a quick question.

Both my computer, and the product have Digital Coaxial and Optical compatibility, and I was wondering which is best for video/audio production (provides highest quality). Both also have the traditional Analog system, but I suspect this is a less effective alternative.

Answer
On paper there shouldn't be too much between the sound, especially at the rate you're most likely using, it's a digital signal i.e. just 1's and 0's. Coaxial are more susceptible to ground loop (hum or buzz) but this is unlikely, Optical are more susceptible optical to jitter but again this is unlikely. Optical are more delicate and more likely to damage.

Personally I go for Coaxial every time and in the context of my system think it does sound better when I've used it. (AV amp and Squeezebox to DAC)

I have a ps3 that is connected to my TV via an HDMI cable. Now I am interested in buying a Logitech Z906 surround system to connect to my ps3. Is it possible to connect them both at the same time, so that I can get the good graphics from the HDMI and the surround sound from the speakers ?

Answer
Yes it is possible.

trying to find best speakers for price?

bob12344

so i have the Logitech z506 currently and im looking to upgrade. ive been looking around and learned about the Logitech z906, but as im reading the reviews i see that its good but not great for the price.

now i want a system that has A LOT of bass but also good sound quality around the same price range of the z906 it doesn't have to be 5.1 it can be 2.1.

i would not mind building my own system and have it sound better for the same price so if thats my best option a list of things i would need to buy would be good.

i have the asus Xonar DG soundcard and would like it to sound good with the new speakers.

thank you for your input.

im deciding wether i get a Logitech Speaker System Z906, Or a Speaker System Z623. which one is good for music? im using a laptop by the way.

Answer
All speakers consume power (Watts). Some require more power than others. Low frequency (bass or 'woofer') speakers demand more power because the cones have to push against large amounts of air to make the low frequency sounds . Sub-woofers are speakers designed to reproduce the lowest of frequencies: higher frequencies are generated by smaller coned speakers moving relatively. quickly.
Most people buy these speakers to get the bass/percussive effects employed in repetitive 'music'.
Some say that it helps you feel panicky when watching disaster movies.
Shave your head, wear lots of bling and reject the use of consonants, I say.

Why logitech speakers got worse?

The Logitech z2300 and z5500 were very good speaker sets for the pc, but now they have risen in price and the new "successors" z636 and z906 really suck if you compare them. Does anyone know why ? And can you give me some good suggestions about what I should buy?

Answer
Manufacturers are cutting costs to increase profits - the result is a decline in the quality of consumer electronics we buy today. Great example is the flat panel sets we buy today for dirt cheap - but are lucky to get a year out of them before they are dumpster bound.

The Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 system is still a good safe bet.
