quality speaker system ?

i have a friend who is like my best friend and its his 18th birthday soon so i want to get him something to remember so i am thinking of a rly good stereo something around the £100-£150 ($170-$260) mark and we both like our stereos to have big bass something to shake the room but still have reasonable mid and high points i have a jbl creature 2 speaker system and i love it now i want something better to give to him to be a great friend can any of you give any suggestions as to a quality sound system prefirabley not a surround sound tv system something soley for music and must have an mp3 input as well as computer input

Hm, well there is many different systems you can get that sounds good, but if you want inputs like that I think that you are leaning more toward a Mini HI FI system, not power amplifier and some big speakers. Go to a huge electronics store and look at the stereo systems, they'll have something in that price range. I live in america, so I don't what stores you guys have lol thats all I know.

I own two speaker systems for my phone and my I really like the ihome speaker and alarm clock.
It's a really good quality speaker, especially since it's quite inexpensive for it's good quality.

but if your willing to spend afew big bucks for a speaker system, I would recommend checking out the Bose SoundDock. You can never go wrong with Bose. Alot of their stuff is a bit pricey but if your up to spending the money, I would DEFFINITLEY recommend it. The quality on a scale of 1-10 would be 11.

If I want my music to play throughout 4 speakers should i buy a multiple stereo speaker system or...?

If I want my music to play throughout 4 speakers should i buy a multiple stereo speaker system or surround sound speakers? Im thinking surround sound speakers will play most music on only 2 speakers but if i buy a stereo system with 4 speakers, the music will play throughout all speakers - is that true?

most quality stereo receivers will play 2 sets of speakers but a quality AV receiver may have more options and probably will not cost that much more than a quality stereo receiver, some of the better ones have discreet amps so that would be the way to go...also a lot has to do with the quality of the speakers involved.....music as a general rule takes better quality speakers to produce than movies do....

Why is My Speaker System Playings Music when it is turned off and isn't connected to a radio?

I have a Durabrand HT-3917, it is turned off with no form of music player or cable/satellite attached to it and it is currently playing classical music at a barely noticeable volume. When I turn on the speaker system the volume is louder and doesn't play classical music. Where is it coming from?

the speakers could be picking up a very weak signal from the air. This sometimes happens, but it's no big deal if you can barely notice it.

I know you need the speakers, but what else do i need to create a wireless speaker system for a patio that gets music from an iPod or the radio. (Ex: Receiver, Remote, Amplifier, etc.)

Aside from an enclosure, the speaker(s) and a cross over you will need some form of amplification to get the signal from the receiver. Once you have sorted out the wireless component (ie. the sending and receiving) try to find either a powered speaker or source a small audio amplification kit (not too hard to build) from E-bay.
Keep in mind, you will need to provide some form of power to this unit.

Can a Bose speaker system with Base box and speaker has amplifier?

I want to buy a DVD player which I can use for playing music with BOSE speaker system with Base box, which is usually used for attaching with lap tops. Is it possible? Can i play movies from DVD player on to my lap top?

Most modern laptops have a DVD drive ... why not just play directly, and output audio from the laptop to Bose?
