How do you connect an Ipod to a speaker system?

jas2world

Is there some sort of cable you can buy that will let your Ipod play from any speaker system that has a headphone jack or other common jack?

Answer
If you have a component-style speaker system then you just need to go to an electronics store and buy a 3.5mm headphone to RCA chord - it had two "male" ends (one white, one red). You just plug the two ends into any place (phono or cd for example), set the stereo to it, and play the ipod.

If you have a shelf system (all-in-one set) then you need to look for inputs. These will usually be on the back of the stereo somewhere. They will most likely be RCA inputs, but occasionally they have headphone inputs. Get the right kind of chord and plug it in. To listen to the ipod, set your stereo to Aux input (short for auxiliary). If your shelf system does not have an Aux setting, then chances are you cannot play your ipod on it.

If you have a computer speaker system, then there should be a headphone chord included which you plug into your ipod and play from there. If you play and no sound is coming out of the speakers then try turning the volume on the ipod up.

iPod speaker/docking systems?

Amber

Any suggestions? I have an iPod touch 3rd generation not that it matters considering you get different attachments/a universal docking station... anyways :P I need something that is:

-loud!
-CLEAR/crisp-a system that does not lose clarity with the max volume
-has a good range of pitch i.e. tweeters, mid rangers & decent bass (sub woofers etc.)

I know that's a lot to ask for for under around $200 and I know I'm not going to get a state of the art piece with that but I believe it's possible to get those features with the quality for that price range-thanks!! :)

Answer
You can find quality iPod speakers/docking systems online. Might want to check if iHome, Altec Lansing or Cyber Acoustics fits your preference.

I have a HTC thunderbolt, and I would like a nice speaker system (just like an ipod dock, I don't want ten different speakers) I can get for about $150 that I can plug into with an aux cord and listen to my music?

Answer
This is an excelent docking station. It sounds better than Bose, for a fraction of the cost.

The best part is, it will connect to any kind of phone or mp3 player.

I just bought a memorex speaker system for an iPod but I have an iPhone and when I put it on it says it won't be able to charge it and when I play music it it doesn't come out of the speakers.

Answer
probably not. with your iphone, i've found only certain speakers will work. just because they have the same 32 pin connector doesn't mean they'll work.

What is the best speaker system for iPod 4th generation?

Hypnotiq

I'm dying to buy a speaker system for my iPod but I don't know which ones are any good. and they're all SO expensive. Anyone have a good one or do you know of any really BAD ones that i should stay away from (lol) thanks!!!!

Answer
Klipsch are a great choice if you have the budget. I have a JBL On Tour speaker for travelling, great sound, small size, run on AAA bateries. For my room I use an iHome, which includes an alarm clock, remote control, sleep, etc.
In www.ilounge.com you can find reviews and ratings for almost all iPod accesories on the market. I use it for deciding my new accesories purchases and had done great choices so far.
