Wireless home speaker/theatre system help?

Kooookieee

I want to get a wireless home system but I don't know which to get. I'm looking for one with the best sound quality (or very good at least). I also do not want one which comes with a blueray player, i already got a ps3 for that. Any help much aprreciated :)

Answer
Notice on the link, to the right of the page will be product suggestions, while to the left is explanations.

I am at a loss for wireless home theatre systems, because of to many variables. For what it is worth, consider two facts. Wired home theatre sound systems will be more reliable because they are wired and the sound quality to wireless units do not match the full dynamics of wired ones. Certainly, the units suggested in the link are plenty of suggestions to meet your goal. I guess I would encourage you to exercise a keen sense of situational awareness, increasing wireless traffic in a household and around it is getting crowded. Have fun and good luck, I am sure you will be happy with your decision.

Best.

Anyone know of an affordable home theater system with wireless rear speakers?

andrewfier

Long story short, I'm looking for a surround sound system with wireless rear speakers because I lease an apartment and don't want to drill holes to hide the wiring from the front to the back of the room.

I know of some systems that have wireless rear speakers, but the cheapest one I've seen was a BOSE system for $1,499 which is a bit much for an apartment. I don't need it to be that powerful. I've got other tenants to contend with.

Any suggestions would be great.

Answer
Most home theater systems that offer "wireless" rear speakers will still have some wires to the rear speakers. Basically they have a transmitter on the main receiver unit and a smaller receiver box that the rear speakers are wired to.
Panasonic's current set of home theater sets have the wireless rear speakers packaged with the theater systems. you can find those sets starting at around $300.

How to set up an existing, in place, home speaker system?

MquesAtioN

My house has speakers all around the inside of the house and in my patio. The speakers are already in the wall. Any suggestions on how to setup the speakers and hook them all up to a cpu or ipod for media? The installed speakers are more than a decade old. Any other sites or companies that can help me out? Advice? This is not part of a home theatre.

Answer
If its just speakers then any system will work but if it also has volume pods and other controls you may have to stick with the brand that was originally installed... HTD has some really good whole house audio systems at very reasonable prices, I'm not sure they are into i pods or computers yet so maybe Sonus may be better more up to date but also more expensive....

Home Speaker System?

Does anybody know how much it costs to put in a whole-house in-ceiling or in-wall speaker system. The house we are building has 4 bedrooms which I would like speakers in all. Also I would like them in the basement, kitchen, living, 2 bathrooms, and 4 outside speakers.

Answer
Well first off it depends on how many speaker per room. Let's estimate 2 in each bedroom, 4 outside, 1 per bathroom, living room, kitchen 4 each, and 1 home theater system.
A good quality in home speaker in ceiling about 350 per pair, a good in wall being about the same.
2 Receivers and 1 multiroom switch approximately $2500. A whole house system controller (Fancy Remote that controls every room with a button) 1000 for the system and 1000 per master remote and 500 for a secondary remote.
Now with all that Speaker Wire run to every room in wall grade to the receivers. 3000. (Little extra for guesstimate)
and volume knobs per room 10 at 50 each 500.
And and Installer who can do it all for you 2500 to 4500.

About 25,000 to 40,000 depending on the equipment.

How can I get my jWIN JS-P701 2.4GHz Wireless Home Theather Speaker System to play from all of the speakers?

How can I get my jWIN JS-P701 2.4GHz Wireless Home Theather Speaker System to play from all of the speakers? It only came with one adapter for the red/white audio cords.

Answer
That is such a goofy speaker set up and a first for me.

OK here is what is going on. This is a powered speaker set with no Dolby decoder. It will accept for surround only 3 sets of RCA's from a DVD player. I will include a link to a DVD player that has theses so you know what to look for. Make sure to look at the back panel image.

This speaker set is really just a modified PC set of speakers.( note the three mini to RCAs adapters only available in the box mind you).

If you don't want to get a new DVD player you can get a home theater receiver with what ever digital audio connection you have, as long as the receiver has pre outs to hook up to the speaker set. Will include a link to the one that has this. But that is counter intuitive to buying a powered speaker set.

Your only other option is to hook to up to a PC with the correct 5.1 sound card.

If it is a new purchase I suggest take it back and get a 5.1 system that will work with your existing equipment.

PS also look up white van scam I think you may have been had.

Hi,
I have a wall mount speaker system at home which my previous owner left it.
I am trying to utilize it. I understand that I need a amplifier/receiver to connect the speakers.
But I tried connecting those speakers to my RCA home theater DVD player which has speaker out and it worked.
Now I need just the player that comes with the home theater system without the speakers.
Can anyone please tell me where I could buy them and If i have to search in ebay or local store, what should i ask for? these are not just DVD players rite...but DVD players with amplifiers built it.

Thanks

Answer
There is no such thing.

Your choice (new anyways), is the DVD player with speakers, which comes with everything.

Or you get a component surround system, where you buy your choice of individual components as your needs require.

How much is my home-made speaker system worth?

Eamon

I made a really awesome home-made speaker system. They sound very good and the following prices were paid to make them:

-MDF $40
-2 Eminence midranges $90
-2 Boss Extreme 12inch Subwoofers $70
-2 Boss Tweeters $26
-200 Watt Amp $40

I haven't decided on a cost of labor yet, that's what I'm asking.

Thanks!

Answer
Not being a recognized designer, not much, in fact less than cost of materials. You do not have to be a manufacturer however, having been around this for a very long time I can tell you a lot of manufacturers are just as clueless as an inexperienced DIY'er when it comes to making speakers correctly. Additionally their hands tend to be tied by marketing departments dictating parameters that disable them from making better speakers. This is a limitation the DIY'er doesn't have to deal with.

When it comes to selling your creation, you need that marketing department. This is the area where you really lag the manufacturers. Despite the low end hardware you have used and despite the fact you appear to be inexperienced, it would not surprise me if your creation sounds better than most Bose products. Despite this, they make billions of dollars and you can't even recover your materials cost.

If you want to make money in the speaker business, it would pay to learn a little bit about designing them that's true but you could be the best most knowledgeable speaker designer on the planet and not make a dime unless you learn marketing. Bose is the proof you don't need to build good speakers to make money.

I do encourage you to continue your speaker building hobby. It is a lot of fun and with time and experience you will exceed the performance of any commercial system you could otherwise buy. I've been doing it for almost 40 years and there is no commercial speaker on the market I have the slightest interest in owning even if it were free. Just don't expect to make money unless you go the other direction... that is get minimal speaker building understanding and maximum marketing understanding.
