What is a good wireless speaker system that can cover a whole floor for under $500?

Q. I am going to set up my grandmother's home audio system. I need it to have a standard 3.5 mm headphone input jack so that I can connect it to airport express. Thanks in advance, Will!
I don't mean surround sound, I mean a system that I can place a speaker in any part of the house.

Answer
I don't know of a completely wireless 5.1 system, but Panasonic and Sony both make wireless rear speaker systems. The front three speakers and the sub are wired, but the rears are wireless. The Panasonic is RF, while the Sony uses IR. I don't think either has a 3.5mm input, but you can buy a 3.5 to RCA adapter for $3 at any electronics store. I don't know the price of the systems though. I believe the model numbers are Panasonic SCHT940 and Sony DAVFX1. I could be wrong. Too many models to keep track of. Hope this helps.

Home Speaker System?

Does anybody know how much it costs to put in a whole-house in-ceiling or in-wall speaker system. The house we are building has 4 bedrooms which I would like speakers in all. Also I would like them in the basement, kitchen, living, 2 bathrooms, and 4 outside speakers.

Answer
Well first off it depends on how many speaker per room. Let's estimate 2 in each bedroom, 4 outside, 1 per bathroom, living room, kitchen 4 each, and 1 home theater system.
A good quality in home speaker in ceiling about 350 per pair, a good in wall being about the same.
2 Receivers and 1 multiroom switch approximately $2500. A whole house system controller (Fancy Remote that controls every room with a button) 1000 for the system and 1000 per master remote and 500 for a secondary remote.
Now with all that Speaker Wire run to every room in wall grade to the receivers. 3000. (Little extra for guesstimate)
and volume knobs per room 10 at 50 each 500.
And and Installer who can do it all for you 2500 to 4500.

About 25,000 to 40,000 depending on the equipment.

What is the best speaker system for under 700 USD, 500 pounds. Loud loud sub and loud loud clear speakers?

Mak

I really wanna know what kinda of sound system I could buy that would blow the roof off and yet still sound really good for under 500 British pounds (700 USD). I wanna connect it to my computer. I have heard of the Klipsch promedia 5.1 and Logitech z 5500 but wondering if i could buy something for non-computer use that can still be connected to the computer or buy a sub and speakers separately to make an awesome kit. I only have a small room

Answer
Home theater in a box systems are OK, but the build overall quality isn't that great.

Your best bet, would be to do some research, shop around, and build a theater system yourself. You will bet much better overall quality and you have the freedom of choice as far as parts go.

What you will need is:
-- 5.1 Receiver with your preference of audio connections (Optical, RCA, HMDI).
-- Front (left and right) channel speakers.
-- Center channel speaker.
-- Rear channel speakers.
-- Sub-woofer(s).
-- Cables/hook-ups.

It sounds like a daunting task, but it isn't as hard as it looks. It's a little time-consuming though. In the end, you will be much happier with the results.

Look at the reviews online for the products. They will really help you and inform you of problems with the products. Some stores even have home theater components on display to allow you to hear them.

I'm not too familiar with retailers and sites that will deliver to the UK, so I can't really help you on that part.

Good luck!

Best surround sound speaker system under $500.00 for music?

Krazed Log

Don't even bother answering unless you know your stuff. (must have strong bass)

Answer
Best sound =/= strong bass. Good quality speakers provide quality sound across all sound frequencies.

Further, you don't make clear what your source will be, so do you have an audio receiver, and, if so, what kind, stereo, 5.1 HT, or 7.1 HT ?

That's crucial, as suggestions will vary quite a bit, depending on which kind of speaker system you want.

There are many good quality speaker brands that have gear in your price range. Among them are Infinity, Polk, JBL and Klipsch.

Now, if you wanted a 5.1 speaker system, you could get the following Polk speakers at Newegg:

A pair of New Monitor 65Ts towers for $320.
A pair of New Monitor 40 Series 2s for $120.
A center CS1 Series 2 for $70
A PSW10 subwoofer for $100.

OK, that's $610. If you really can't go over $500, then substitute New Monitor 45Bs for $170 instead of the tower 65Ts. That takes the package price down to $460.

Which Computer Speaker System i get?

HERES 3 SPEAKERS WITH SUBWOOFER PACKS, TELL ME WHICH ONE TO BUY AND WHY

some things to note before you start looking at them all.
- ide care for one with the best

Answer
I don't see any speaker system in your question but
I recommend you Logitech Z5500.
I got the Logitech 5.1 speaker system for Christmas, and it beat my old speakers by a long shot. I love this thing!
The Logitech Z-5500 won me over on three fronts: good reviews, pro-audio looks and multiple inputs. Logitech offers powerful 5.1 surround sound systems for a very reasonable price. If you are looking for a great 5.1 speaker system you can be sure that Logitech has them. The speakers is very powerful, has 500 Watts power.
I really liked the powerful subwoofer , which delivers clear sound and provides added excitement to action movies and greater realism to games. However, I can tell you that the Z-5500 is a good buy for music lovers and even for those who donât have much interest in action gaming, but love music.
It is good that the speakers have separate connections in the back, not built into it. After a few weeks of usage, I have to tell you, just as everyone says you simply canât get better sound for this price and I highly recommend this product. You will love the Z-5500 5.1 speaker system. Every aspect of these speakers rock. If you are willing to put up with them you wonât be disappointed.
It is really worth the price (oh and the speaker system also have a great LCD display). You can it on Amazon cheap, here:
