how can you hook up a wireless speaker system in your home?

rcgriffin2

I have moved into a new home and there is not enough attic space to run wires for my 5.1 theater system.

Answer
Never heard of wireless speaker 5.1. It seems like the getting all the speakers to synchronize when using wireless would be a nightmare. Imagine one speakers wireless reception is getting some interfernce and drops some packets which have to be retransmitted and then this causes a delay. I suggest finding a way to run wires. There are creative solutions and probably ALOT cheaper alternative to wireless. Also with wireless, how would you power the speakers? It is not easy to get 100 watts of power to a speaker without wires.

Are all home theater system speakers wireless?

Answer

Anyone know of an affordable home theater system with wireless rear speakers?

andrewfier

Long story short, I'm looking for a surround sound system with wireless rear speakers because I lease an apartment and don't want to drill holes to hide the wiring from the front to the back of the room.

I know of some systems that have wireless rear speakers, but the cheapest one I've seen was a BOSE system for $1,499 which is a bit much for an apartment. I don't need it to be that powerful. I've got other tenants to contend with.

Any suggestions would be great.

Answer
Most home theater systems that offer "wireless" rear speakers will still have some wires to the rear speakers. Basically they have a transmitter on the main receiver unit and a smaller receiver box that the rear speakers are wired to.
Panasonic's current set of home theater sets have the wireless rear speakers packaged with the theater systems. you can find those sets starting at around $300.

Can anyone recommend wireless speakers for a 6.1 surround sound home system?

peekaboo

Answer
It doesn't seem that 6.1 has yet fully entered the wireless world in terms of buying a complete ready-to-go system - any 6.1 systems out there currently have only wireless on the fronts, and the rears are wired.
The Panasonic SC-HT545 system is 5.1 but is easily setup with SH-FX60 to have wireless rear speakers too, see source 1.
The Philips Cineos HTS9800W is a 6.1 wireless rear system but front speakers are wired, see source 2, 3 and 4.

I am looking for a wireless Home theater system â not necessarily entirely wireless, but I want to be able to listen to music in couple of rooms at the same time without having to use wires to those rooms. Looking within the $350-$500 range. Can any of you recommend a good Home theater system in this price range? Please give me the model number or names. Thanks.

Answer
Some HTS provide a wireless output for the two rear speakers, to avoid long cables, since they are placed far from the A/V receiver.
I'm not aware of a 5.1 system that is wireless for its five+1 speakers.
A company called Terk (owned by Audiovox) makes transmitters for what you need.
Visit: http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/terk.jsp
Click "Wireless Audio/Video Transmission Control".

How can I get my jWIN JS-P701 2.4GHz Wireless Home Theather Speaker System to play from all of the speakers? It only came with one adapter for the red/white audio cords.

Answer
That is such a goofy speaker set up and a first for me.

OK here is what is going on. This is a powered speaker set with no Dolby decoder. It will accept for surround only 3 sets of RCA's from a DVD player. I will include a link to a DVD player that has theses so you know what to look for. Make sure to look at the back panel image.

This speaker set is really just a modified PC set of speakers.( note the three mini to RCAs adapters only available in the box mind you).

If you don't want to get a new DVD player you can get a home theater receiver with what ever digital audio connection you have, as long as the receiver has pre outs to hook up to the speaker set. Will include a link to the one that has this. But that is counter intuitive to buying a powered speaker set.

Your only other option is to hook to up to a PC with the correct 5.1 sound card.

If it is a new purchase I suggest take it back and get a 5.1 system that will work with your existing equipment.

PS also look up white van scam I think you may have been had.

Is there any ipod home-speaker system that can be wirelessly controlled by the ipod?

vin43075

Basically I'm looking for a simple, all-in-one home speaker system for my ipod that includes some type of wireless accessory for the ipod itself as well. Or something like that.
Ultimately being able to use the ipod as more of a remote control while at home.
Anyone know of anything that fits the bill?

Answer
Get an IHome. It includes a clock, radio, a docking base for your ipod to charge and play music on it. The IHome is amazing!
