I'm 15 years old and im getting my first car in october. Since I'm a kid i wont have a lot of money to spend on a sound system. What is the best i can get without having to spend a lot of money? (over $2000)

You can get a nice system for well under $2,000.

Get a decent Pioneer deck, they're nice because they include crossovers for your main speakers. Taking the low frequency out of them will make even the factory speakers a lot clearer and louder.

Get a single 10" or 12" sub, get a decent brand, here's where to spend a little of the money to get some performance out of it. I'd go with at least JL. Stay away from anything like MTX, pioneer, RF etc. A single 12" JL will be a lot louder than two crap subs anyway. Then get a decent amp, a small Alpine is a good amp for a sub. Around 250 RMS will be plenty to power one sub. With everything installed you should be around $1,000, maybe less. Need to spend a little more? Get a little more power to that sub. A little more? Get a better sub, Boston Accoustics makes great subs. A little more yet? Upgrade the factory speakers and put an amp to them.

Brand new subwoofer systems with a suggested retail price less than roughly US$5000 that also have total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 10 percent, minimal power compression and reasonably flat (±3 dB), usable passband output* of at least 100 dB below 20 Hz are very rare.

Though there may be a few other subwoofer systems that may come close, the only turnkey subwoofer systems of which I am currently aware that essentially meet all of the aforementioned performance criteria at a retail price of no more than US$2000 are SVSoundâs PB13-Ultra Powered Subwoofer, possibly the Seaton SubMersive and the now discontinued Epik Conquest. Arguably the only subwoofer system nearest the suggested retail price of US$2000 that would surpass the performance of these subwoofers in nearly every category would be a do-it-yourself subwoofer system constructed with one of the highly regarded and very expensive Audiopulse LMS-Ultra drivers (formerly of TC Sounds fame,) powered by a high performance, very high power audio power amplifier.

What is the best way to install a speaker system in several restroom all connected into one box, but each with individual volume control as well as a protective system around this control unit were only selected people may use this control?

I would recommend a 70v system. this will allow you to have many speakers connected to 1 amplifier. and you will be able to tune the volume at each of the speakers.

companies like TOA sell 70v speakers for indoor / outdoor , on wall or in wall mounting

What kind of receiver do I need for my in-ceiling speaker system?

I just bought a home with a speaker system built in to the ceilings. There are two thick yellow cables coming out of the wall that each have a red, black, white, and green coming out. The home has 5 rooms with volume controls.

My audio knowledge is pretty low. I would like to know what kind of receiver I need to buy (maybe even an amazon link?) and how do I hook up the different cables once I have it? Please and thank you!

You are going to have to contact the installer for a definitive answer on this one. Yes there is some logic to the color scheme, but let's not take a chance here. Somewhere there has to be a business card tucked in or a label placed somewhere. The same company may have installed an alarm system - so take a look there too. Don't overlook the doorbell (seriously).

I will share an experience I had hooking up a stereo system to a pre-wired house that may help if you can't find information about the installer. The red wire will be right/positive. The white wire should be left/positive. Black and green should be negative - but not sure which channels. You can use a digital multimeter and place one test lead on the red... then see which other lead gives you a reading of a few ohms (black or green). Mark them as R+ and R-. Just to be sure - repeat on the white and remaining wire. Mark them L+ and L-.

In the install I was stuck completing, there were additional wires in the room the wires came out for 2 more rear speakers for surround. I have to wonder if you have rear speakers in one of the rooms? That might be the second set of wires. All total, there were 4 sets of stereo speakers plus 1 set of surround speakers driven off a single receiver. A second room area had it's own set of wires for another receiver that was dedicated to that area.

If the last 2 paragraphs read like greek, you'll have to contact an installer on this one.

To answer your receiver question, you don't need much power - but you do want quality. You need to know more about what you have before selecting a receiver. In my case, the friend had a good Denon home theater receiver, so it had no trouble filling the house with wonderful sound.
