I want to put a new speaker system in my car....first off i need to know these things
1) What exactly does a kicker amp do?
2) If i get a kicker amp do i have to get a bass sub?
3) If i get a bass sub do i have to get a kicker amp?
4) Do my door speakers hook into the kicker amp?
Answer
1)Kicker is a brand. An amp does exactly what it says (amplifies), it makes your music louder. 2)If you are getting the amp to specifically run a subwoofer then yes. If you want bass in your car then it is best to run a amp to a subwoofer. If you just want to make it louder in your ride then just hook up your amp to the inside speakers only.3)If you get a bassing sub then get an amp for it accordingly (kicker is a great brand).4)Yes, wires have to be run from the amp to the door speakers. The way it works is you run a power wire (12 volt ), a ground wire, remote wire to the amp, and rca jacks if your stereo has them and if not you have to get a converter(sends signal to amp from stereo to let it know what it is playing), and then run speaker wire from the amp to the speakers.

Do good car speakers work with any stereo/sound system?
Dan
I don't know a lot about car speakers and I'm thinking of purchasing new ones. I was wondering if I can just buy new speakers to improve the overall sound/bass of the music I'm playing or do I have to purchase a new stereo to improve that. Do certain stereos only work with certain speakers? What are some good speakers/stereos that I could purchase that a relatively cheap but have exceptional performance?
Thanks
Answer
Do all speakers work with all headunits? YES.
Are you personally going to be happy with any possible combination? NO.
Do all brands have various models for different tastes? YES.
Is it certain that a model sounding good in my ears will also sound good in yours? NO.
So good brands that were statistically proven adequate for most people tastes are:
Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood (cheap options depend on your territory)
